Well, if there is something coming out today(I don't think so but I hope so), don't expect it before 9AM in CUpertino, a little less than 2 hours from now.

Sure, the Athlon is wonderful, but it's not easy to find. The vast majority of PCs sold today are Intel. Gateway dumped the Athlon, Dell doesn't sell it.
I think the problem with Apples is that there's no place you can look at one side by side with a PC and try out a few basic pieces of software. Believe me, I have a PC and a Mac, the ghz myth is based on fact.

I want to say that the actual mid level computer based on the Intel P4 (1,5 Mhz) is faster than the G4 733 (average on 20/25).
This result is tested by me .
Apple has to lunch a G4 1200 Mhz at least now.

Just be patient a little longer and then maybe some of us will be able to decide if we need new machines or not. I think that logically we will see the 1 g machines but I think we are all hoping for at least 1.2 g machines. Come on apple, make your devoted following happy!

I run a G4 400 and still run circles arround a dual P4 sever my company has.
You people are so much like sheeps it is all phycological(SP?) consumers buy the BS bigger numbers mean better product.

I think the only way to take any claim about speed comparison between a Mac and a PC is to give actual numbers in the applications/tasks you feel one is faster than the other. That way the arguments would be more solid.
I hope they will release a 1GHz Mac. Yes you are right, it is all psyco-stuff. I´m running a G4 466 Mhz, it is much faster than my 1GHz Pentium III. But get over with this faster stuff. Apple simply has the better product no matter what is faster.

You have all overlooked a big factor in speed comparisons.
It is possible to tweak a computer to mdeliver alot more performance. Not necesseraly hardware wise but software.
Speed also depends on what you do to your PC, this goes especially for windows.
Right now the best cpu is the athlon.

well we can still all cross are fingers but sine macuser seems to have blemished there credibility let think different. On this one I beleive Spymac which says a MWtokyo or Seybold release involving the Apallo G4 (up to 1.4 ghz) This wil tied over to MWNY '02 when the G5 will release.

YES! I'm once again disapointed that another rumor didn't materialize but since Apple didn't start it this time, it's hard to find fault with them. Can anyone say, kick the $#!T out of MacUser?!

I use a Dual 800 Tower (never used a Wintel) but I can tell you that my Wintel using friends are always amazed by the speed when they come to my home office. Dont worrie... they will be comming soon. Apple will ship some new Pro towers soon. Is it that you guys cant wait a few days?, weeks, even months? I mean. My Quicksilver will last me a few days till they ship the new ones. (not that I am going to get one) How many of you guys are actuly on the market for a new Mac? Have you guys been holding out for a new Mac for the Appolo or something ?

Oh well, I wasn't going to buy one anyway. I am waiting for the G5 however, and will buy one of those as soon as they come out...rev.A or not.
