Well 2 minutes of Google Searching, I found this site for Tax free holidays for the US... All 50 states

I could be wrong, but I think the "Tax Freedom Day" referred to on the site you posted is the first day of the year in which the nation as a whole (or a state) has theoretically earned enough income to fund its annual tax burden (It is NOT a day of tax free sales).

All of your wages for the year up until this day theoretically go to pay your total tax bill for that year. This day is different in each state depending on the differing state and local taxes from state to state.

Perhaps I'm misreading that site, but it appears to be incorrect for many states. Missouri and Tennessee have their tax holidays this weekend, not in April.

We're having tax free in oklahoma too, but the apple store in oklahoma city isn't participating. :( So I have to wait a little longer to get the tax money to buy my imac, lol.

that is the day that you are done with paying your taxes assuming that you pay every dollar that you earn starting January 1. Basically the 1st 4 months (or about 1/3) of each year you're paying taxes to some politician that will make you think that (s)he's giving money back to you for you to vote for him/her.

The tax-free holiday is usually a weekend where the state sales taxes are not charged (or refunded back in the way of discounting effected products). In Virginia, computers are not on the list :( .

Here is the actual site that lists all the states participating in Sales Tax Holidays in 2008. Many state's Sales Tax Holiday is Aug 1-3, so be sure to check the list above for you state soon.

passingXstorm, I called Apple Sales Support and Apple is participating in these Sales Tax Holidays, but according to the site above Oklahoma only allows $100 worth of clothing tax free. Nothing else.

Here in Oregon EVERY day is sales tax free day! We don't have sales tax here, although we more than make up for it in income and property taxes... My paycheck hurts everytime I think about it.

Congratulations! I know you'll be loving your newly purchased amazing product in no time. :)

I'm looking forward to getting the same exact model as you on August 17th, for my 13th B-Day. :eek:

OS X = Win
Vista = Fail
iMac + OS X = Amazing Win
:)

Congrats again,
Ace:apple:
