Tom Tom app....can I say

It's just Apple's way to get more $$ from people. There had to be an easy want to add TBT to Maps and give it to us. Yet they created a relationship with Tom in efforts to no lube us.

Well if there's an easy, why don't you write an app for it. I also whouldn't want me route directions to go the wayside when I happen to pass thorugh a deadspot. Also, Apple didn't form a relationship with TT; TT is a third party developer that is taking advantage of the opportunity to develope for the iPhone platform.
It's the same thing all the other GPS app makers are doing. Also, name ONE phone where TBT is free; you can't! On every carrier TBT and GPS for that matter is a monthly subscription fee. If that's what youre looking for, AT&T Navigator is available to you as well.

I would like to know also. When I had verizon it was $10.00 a mont, so a 2 year contract is $240.00. In that case $100.00 for the Tom Tom isn't all that bad and you can transfer it when you get a new iPhone.
For me I might get a stand alone GPS. One reason is because my wife would want it and I'm not paying 200 for 2 TomToms. And also when some calls or text me, that will shut it off, this way a stand along GPS can just stay on.

Its amazing how many people will think $10 per month isn't bad for GPS but $100 up front, OMG thats a rip-off.
Right now considering the competition and what stand-alone handhelds cost though TomTom should be $70 and not $99 but as someone else pointed out, if you plan on using it on multiple phones it really isn't that bad...
I think so many iPhone users got use to .99 cents that they can't fathom paying for full featured commercial software. Personally I went with the Navigon option. If you're going to wait for TomTom to drop its price, it may be a long wait, and why wait when Navigon is available? I've had it now for about three weeks and I'm very pleased with it. I'm also happy to see their product lifecycle for new enhancements.
do you have different itunes store accounts with your wife? my wife and i share the same account and a lot of our paid apps we run on both phones
Apple would have to license the map data for turn-by-turn, at a huge cost. And Maps requires a data connection for map data. They would either have to license the map data for storage on your iPhone (another huge cost), or you would lose your turn-by-turn whenever you lost your data connection. The licensing cost would be exorbitant, and certainly not something I think they could justify forcing on all of us. And I doubt everyone wants a GB of their iPhone tied up in map data they may never use.
An 8gb iPhone isnt $100, thats subsidised by your contract. you pay for the full cost of the handset in your monthly bill.
Well the US version uses proprietary maps so they probably aren't as good as others in many areas. Also, when I tried it I found several bugs, bad routing, and really hated the interface and that it doesn't have a qwerty keyboard. With that said, for $35 it has a ton of potential. Within a year CoPilot could easily be the best app for the best price.

Yea I wish we did that, I didn't know when we got our phones.
Just authorize your account in hers and vice versa.
I have my account authorized on my Dad's so my kids can do some school stuff when they are at his house.

Actually, if you go read the thread posted today - TT + APPLE = fail (or similar), Tom Tom says they ARE in partnership with Apple, and Apple is pulling the strings.....
Also, if you read TomTom's official WWDC announcement, it states the following:
"an Apple version of..." strikes me as this app was developed by Apple in conjunction with TomTom.
Thanks!!! I thought that only worked with music. Now will all the stuff she bought (music and apps) show up on mine or can I pick what I want and vice versa?
