At first, I thought the yearly OS X upgrade cycle was going to be a boon, especially since its now free.

But now VM software "breaks" every new OS version, so if I stay current I have to do a paid upgrade every single year. And I read about other software breaking too. With El Cap in particular there seem to be many more problems than usual... USB, Nvidia/Adobe, and SIP ruining just about everything.

So now I occasionally skip a version of OS X. I'm definitely skipping El Cap.

I have boot drives with all versions starting with SL, but only for hardware/software testing purposes.
My main is still ML.
Perhaps my GF's 2,1 will get El Cap instead of Yosemite, but as for now we don't see the necessity of this update.
SIP is evil, I bet that one of next versions will lose the ability of disabling it in easy way.

has anyone compared the osx driver with the nvidia driver ?
i never notice any real speed up with the nvidia driver on my gtx660 2gb on osx10.10.5, is it just the faster/newer cards that gain from the drivers.
lets hope the vulkan api comes to osx some time soon saw the vulkan api wiki page mentions a 3rd party company is already porting it over to osx so that might be a game changer (think it runs on mantle kind of like wine? i gess)

I just installed Tomb Raider again. At least the benchmark runs fine on OS X 10.11.5, nVidia Web Driver 346.03.10f02 and a GTX 680. Does the game crash at once or is the crash triggered by some action?

Results with RX 470, 1200p, default High settings. 82FPS, but the god rays and particles appear more pronounced than they were on GeForce.

Bear in mind that my tests on page 1 were with X5690. I downgraded to X5650 and this OpenGL macOS title will be very CPU bounded.
