Hey guys,

I searched but to no avail. What is the difference between these Apps?

Thanks

Hey guys,

Err...a lot.

But essentially;

Toodledo is the official Toodledo app that syncs with the web-based task management service www.toodledo.com

Todo is a 3rd party app that syncs with either Toodledo or another web-based service www.rememberthemilk.com. Also syncs with iCal.

Things syncs with their Mac desktop application.

OmniFocus syncs with their Mac desktop application.

If you don't have a mac then your down to comparing Toodledo and Todo. If you just want a standalone iPhone app, then go with Todo. If you want syncing to a web-based service, then I'd advise checking out the Toodledo website and sign up for a free trial to see if it meets your needs. Do the same with Remember the Milk. The latter have their own native iPhone app on the Appstore as well. I personally use this and recommend it highly, but it's all down to individual tastes/requirements.

Toodledo also does push notifications now, I doubt ToDo will be able to implement push notifications as RTM and Toodledo would have to support it in their API.

The toodledo iphone app has push notifications, repeating tasks, automatically updates the badge very 4 hours without opening the program, and will soon have full automatic sync with their web app.

Omni Focus is for serious users.

I would not use it for your typical ToDo list type activities such as a grocery list.

It is fantastic for a GTD system. I like the way it syncs. The desktop and iPhone/touch interface is good.

Not cheap. You get what you pay for.

Things won one of Apple's design awards. I love the interface and the app really fits my "getting things done" style.

That said - it is still a relatively new product with some features yet to come and some bugs to work out. I've never lost data or missed getting something done because of these bugs, but there are some things you need to be careful of until they get fixed with future releases.

I agree. I use Things because it's quick, very clean and looks like a Native app. Every other one I've tried is just too crowded and doesn't let me get in and out quickly and efficiently. I thought it was worth the $10. The desktop app is even better although I don't have a need for it/use it.

Just a note: I've had no problems with bugs and/or things (no pun intended) not working properly.

Everything's pretty much covered here. Todo has been my choice, custom lists, list filters, and I nice looking UI have kept my satisfied. Toodledo wouldn't let me create a custom list, and sinceI don't have a Mac, Omnifocus and Things were never options for me.

Also check out Pocket Informant, it's my event/task manager, and the only necessity it lacks for me anyways is recurring tasks. That's coming in an update, and the developer has constantly been updating the app.

Thanks odelay! That was really helpful..

By synch - do you mean automatically like mobileme - or every time you connect to the internet?

Urmm okay I guess it's between Todo and Things then..

Can anyone offer any features which would warrant choosing one over the other?

When I made my decision, it was down to Omni Focus and Things. Things is very nice. But I wanted some features that Omni Focus had that Things did not at the time.

Someday, who knows I may change to Things.

The others didn't stack up. IMHO, the best two, at least for my workflow, was Omni Focus and Things.

I am a huge fan of Things. I got the Things iPhone app because I had heard and read a lot of good things about it, and eventually (about 3 months later) picked up Things for Mac to keep them in sync.

I am in the middle of moving back from Germany to Canada, and it has helped me so much in staying on tracked in cancelling certain subscriptions before I move, and just stay organized in the whole packing process (we have a 40 foot freight container arriving on friday, and have until monday morning to pack it...ugh!).

I have TODO and love it. According to their website they have people testing the push notification function and should be out soon.

I don't know either but I'm waiting for a push to-do app

Haven't seen any so far :(

I use TouchTodo which hooks up to a free google gmail account I use only for this purpose. It pushes the to dos up to it and then automatically pushes them to the Calendar app with alerts etc. Its easy to use and works great. (You can also use the the todos on you personal computer - at least on a mac - by setting it up in iCal too.)

ToDo will do push soon. They're wrapping up beta-testing their push.

I still don't know which one I want to buy. I like ToDo the most so far, but Things on the mac also appeals to me. Does it sync to the iPhone over WiFi or can it sync through a web service similar to mobileme?

Things syncs over wifi.

I started out with Todo and switched to Toodledo because they added subtasks. I switched back Todo when they added subtasks which includes checklists and projects. Todo really is awesome and whenever I have had questions the folks at Appigo have been very responsive and helpful.

I also really like the UI. It is very clean and easy to use. I use it for work and for personal and it has made a huge impact on how effecient I can be.

When I was shopping for a task manager for my iPhone, I read all the reviews and decided on Todo (by Appigo). It allows a lot of customization and flexibility without getting too complicated and I like how it handles projects.

Which means I have to remember to do it. Darn...

ToDo it is probably. Things hasn't said they're going to support push, have they?

Well I always have Things running on my mac (displays number of outstanding todos as a badge in the dock), and as soon as you open Things on your iPod or iPhone it syncs automatically (as long as you're on the same network).

Given I don't have an iPhone and am forced to use a wifi connection with my touch, I don't quite mind, but I see how it would be useful to sync over 3G to some web server.

Interesting. I'm often on the same network as my laptop (with my iPhone) so that would work perfectly.

I think I'm going to go to ToDo for two main reasons

-Things desktop costs $50. I probably don't need that full-featured of a task manager. I try to get more done rather than typing and organizing at length what I need to do.

-ToDo will have push. This is the most important criteria. Things expects me to remember when I have stuff to do? Doubtful. I want reminders.

all i can say about appigo's todo app is that i paid 9.99 for it and i never received a response from them for two trouble tickets. syncing with my MBP is not consistent, it can get annoying and inefficient at times.
