I feel like I've stepped back in time! Battery technology has changed. You do not need to let the battery in the iPad run right down. You can trickle charge it, often and in little amounts if that's what you like, and it will provide the longest life. Older batteries needed to be drained once in a while and get a full charge. Little and often is the best now. So just use it whenever you want and when you can. Not only will it do no harm, but you will get the longest life possible from the battery. Amazing that some people still give out advice on dated technology.

Cool! So.....I can go home tonight, and even with 75% showing on the battery meter I can top it off and get back to 100% the following morning.

Wouldn't want my co-workers to see me at 30% charge and think I'm too cheap to charge it up. Sort of like running my BMW on 1/8 of a tank of gas or putting in premium unleaded $10 at a time.

For proper reporting of the battery’s state of charge, be sure to go through at least one charge cycle per month (charging the battery to 100% and then completely running it down).

You are mostly right, but even apple thinks you should let it drain every once in a while.

Obviously this guy's signature is a joke.

Just in case I think I want to follow suit.

The infamous BoltJames

Obviously this guy's signature is a joke.

BoltJames is actually quite infamous on other, non-Mac/non-Apple messaging boards. In fact, he's been banned from a few forums for being a nuisance.

No, I'm not kidding.

Mods should take note to ensure he doesn't start taking up his old habits here.

No worries. Old habits are gone. No troubles.

Shush you know damn well the battery in the iPad 3G 64GB $849 version is way better than the iPad WIFI 32GB $599 version.

Actually reading Apple's site about batteries is very useful.

I own a 3G/64GB/$829. I'd think I should be able to be proud of it, no? Not trying to brag; it's just an iPad.

See!

Didn't think I would see you around these forums BJ!

So....I should top it off every night and then, once a month, drain it dry and recharge again?

BJ

Did you ever read up on batteries on Apple's site? I mean I could say "sorry I don't respond to people who can't follow simple instructions" but I won't. You should drain it fully once a month and recharge, otherwise topping it off is ok.

Battery memory is a thing of the past. Ipads use lithum batteries which like to be charged and do not develop memory over time if you "top them" off.

I plug mine in every night, as I have done with my iPhone for like a year and a half now. The battery life has not diminished.

$10 at a time for gas isn't a bad idea, extra gas == extra weight == faster burning of gas. If you live close to a gas station, it's actually not a bad idea at all.

Deep down, whether realized or not, signatures that are along these lines display insecurity and the need to draw attention to oneself in an effort to 'feel' more confident or justify an a consuming emotion.

Did you consider that he was just having fun with his sig?
