You sound like someone who's never actually held onto a new iPhone for more than 3-4 years max but just reads about which older iPhones still run the latest iOS.

Like, yes, theoretically, the updates are there. But with the extremely, unnecessarily low RAM Apple has been giving iPhones up until iPhones 15 or 16, most of all the older iPhones will feel sluggish at the 3-4 year mark after launch.

That, of course, means you're still probably right about your 15 Pro.

But you're not going to get any excitement from Xs and Xr owners running iOS 18, and most certainly not iOS 19, trust me. Those models are just 3GB RAM and are lagging hard on the latest update even though they barely get any new features.

Supported for almost 10 years is better than many other brands. But Apple certainly isn't optimizing iOS for the older devices.

Apple's support and security updates for older devices is overhyped.
I know before that Apple supports their phones for many years, but this was something new for me.
And you are correct, my longest run with an iPhone was the 12 PM which I had for about 2 1/2 years. Sold it because I wanted to try Android.
And now using an 15 Pro😁

However I don’t think the xs is slow and laggy because I was trying a Xs before the 15, and the Xs was not at all slow.
Of course it cannot compare to a newer phone in performance, but if you’re just gonna use it like a phone, and nothing more, it’s still good in 2024, imo.

WTF. The M4 Macs just came out. I don't think I believe this, but if true, why can't Apple get their act together and release their chips for everything? This would mean there will be no M5 Mac Mini, and who knows what the hell the next Mac Studio will get. RIP Mac Pro with that silly M2 and a lot of air.
