Googles phone has insane hardware. 24gb ram more than the entire macbook lineup lmao. Take a look.
That's what happens when you can't write an efficient OS which needs less RAM to run an OS that is part of an ecosystem that is HEADS AND SHOULDERS above the Google offering, or ANY Android offerings.

Oh yeah, "Pay no attention to the iOS tablets and MacOS laptops and desktops ACTUALLY IN THE WORKPLACE."

Probably be buying a series 15 phone, and the customer reactions in the bleeding edge wave of purchases will tell me which one is the best value.

Also, amortizing the price of the iPhones over a 5 year to 6 year life of OS upgrades makes the initial price FAR more digestible than any of the similarly-priced "2 maybe 3 OS upgrades" Android anchors.

Smart move. I also don't look at what phones cost but how much value they lose.

Dynamic island is a bust. Battery life is frightening. So should you buy it? There are at least some folks that have stepped back to the iP13.
I really think that DI is annoying when it comes to watching a movie or looking at fullscreen photos.

I‘m thinking about the iP15/15pro. Main reason will be USB-C and to have a new device for developing and testing. On the other hand I don‘t want a device heavier and clumsier than my 11pro.

There is no 'Devastating Review' in that video.

First, an Outright Lie - Dynamic Island is not a bust and THE REVIEWER SAYS THAT SPECIFICALLY!

For batteries, he's a heavy user and has 10% left at EOD, so I'm not worried about battery in my life. ESPECIALLY as he's 'been running iOS 17 BETA from the beginning'. He also notes he has well above 90% battery health left, too.

His review is for an iPhone14, comparing it to what he expects from an iPhone15. Your comments concerning all the issues and asserting the review shows somehow shows the iPhone15 is 'substandard' as an upgrade when YOU are actually in the market for an iPhone11 to iPhone15 upgrade is disingenuous.

Or, didn't you expect people to watch the video?

If heavier and clumsier is ALL you have to actually complain about, I can't see why people wouldn't want to upgrade the VASTLY better iPhone15 or Pro version when THEY ARE COMING FROM AN IPHONE11. Also, heavier and clumsier seem to be VERY personal issues, not a fault in the iPhone.

I'm talking from an iPhone Xr perspective, and there is really NOTHING that would keep me from updating unless the economy collapses, in which case WHAT ELSE DOES MATTER?

I feel like iOS 17 is the most talked about (non released) software in the history of computing.
Both the iPhones 15 series and IOS 17 are seeings lots of MacRumors articles, but it seems fairly muted now as far as expectations. Take for example the much discussed side loading rumors because of EU, when’s the last time that has been discussed?

IMHO most of the discussions these days isn't IOS 17 orientated but more hardware based iPhone 15 rumors such as Apple’s possibly still utilizing active buttons rather dedicated silencing button, possible price increases, and is there a got to have color with iPhone 15 pro models. As mentioned the lack of Gold which is very popular in Asia is now discussed a lot more.

Also in Gurmans article today is the precipice the iPad sales had in the last quarter with Apple supposedly giving the iPad Pro its first major overhaul in half a decade.

=====
Like desktops and laptops, tablet sales have slumped since a pandemic-fueled surge. Nearly every major manufacturer is suffering declines, including Samsung Electronics Co. and Lenovo Group Ltd. There’s just not much urgency among consumers to buy a tablet (or upgrade their perfectly functional old one). Many consumers also bought larger-screen phones in recent years, making a tablet even less necessary.

But Apple hasn’t helped matters with its own decisions. There have been a number of moves that are keeping iPad buyers on the sidelines:

  • iPad updates have been especially minor as of late. The most compelling new model in years was the low-end, 10th-generation iPad launched last October. The iPad Pro hasn’t seen a breakthrough update since the current design launched in 2018, and the iPad mini hasn’t been refreshed in two years.
  • The lineup is confusing. Anyone trying to comparison-shop iPads on Apple’s website is greeted with a dizzying array of models and generations. Take the 11-inch iPad Pro and iPad Air, which are similar in size and appearance. Because the Pro has ProMotion, LiDAR, an M2 chip and a second camera, it costs $200 more. But those features probably aren’t compelling enough to sway most consumers. The 10th-generation iPad, meanwhile, should probably already have replaced the $329 iPad, a holdover that still has a home button.
  • Apple also is competing with itself, thanks to improvements in the Mac lineup. Following the company’s move to in-house chips, Macs have become more durable and cost-effective. They last longer and are speedier, eliminating the need for iPads in some cases.
  • The approach to iPad software continues to be perplexing. Stage Manager, which is meant to make it easier to multitask, can still be difficult to use. And Apple has been reluctant to bring more Mac-like functionality to the platform.
=======
So with the above reasons it looks like there are different reasons to watch this upcoming Sept 12th iPhone, Watch event then the usual introductions as clues to Apple's future endeavors.

Puzzled over why people think they have to continually upgrade their phones. Unless you lose your phone, why can't you use it for 5 years? Similarly with a computer: why can't you use it for 10 years?

Very, very few people now have needs that exceed the capabilities of these machines.

All this lust for new things is just the training the advertising field has done to our society.
Sorry you are puzzled, let me explain. Many folks use their iPhones as tools involved in their gainful employment. Often said tools are enterprise-critical components of said gainful employment.

Annual upgrades to the tech tools one uses for gainful employment is essential for those of us utilizing technology, and should be planned accordingly. With the cost of maintaining the very best tool working out to $1-$2 per day it is a no-brainer for many iPhone users.

Some only use their iPhones for personal use, in which case it is a financial cost versus personal reward decision. Spend $0.50-$1.50 per day to maintain older tech or $1-$2 per day for the very best. Each individual decides. For many, just the personal well being imparted by using a very best available tool in one's life is more than worth $1 per day.

FYI improvements in tech are real, not "just the training the advertising field has done." That you fail to discern the difference between an iPhone 8 and an iPhone 14 Pro is just you with simplistic usages perhaps; the differences among iPhone generations are substantive. Whether computers, phones, tablets or whatever, we each personally decide what works best for us creatively, financially, etc.

Let me explain, why I‘m calling it a bust. From the video:
- I hardly pay attention to it … except for one specific thing
- The reviewer says explicitly „I wouldn‘t call it a bust“ but than he explains why he is disappointed
- „DI has been ignored by this year“ - well maybe if the feature trickles down, we will see

Additionally you have to take into account, that the reviewer is a hardcore Apple fan and makes money by promoting Apple. He praised the new feature in the beginning, but it didn’t turn out as successful as he thought.
- So it is a feature that adds complexity
- There is no real benefit, at least at the moment
- This feature is ignored mostly
- Maybe we will see more functionality in iOS18?

From other reports it is expected that DI will vanish as soon as FaceId starts to work beneath the display. Also lots of users complain about the cutout in videos and claim that the notch wasn‘t as annoying.

So, yeah - you may call my claim over-emphasized. But is is a bust - from my point of view. Or you may call it lipstick on the pig.

And for the battery life, just read the forums - I won‘t go into detail here.

Long story short:
Exactly in the moment the reviewer tells you “I wouldn’t call it a bust” he does exactly this - he calls it a bust …

Should I wait for the iPhone 15 Pro or just go for the iPhone 14 Pro? Deep thoughts...
Titanium Chassis + Periscope Camera

If Apple made cars like the iPhone, it would be the same car year after year with only slightly more horsepower in the engine, but all the features are still the same.

Thank goodness its so much faster (cough) I dont know how I'll keep my iPhone another year I mean the 14 Pro is so slow, and its a phone so hell yeh I want my apps to openly faster that I can perceive. Its a shame Apple dont make phones that hold onto signals better, and have decent battery life, my iPhone 14 Pro has faired well still 100% for a launch day unit. This year it was new Mac (very much needed) Maybe iPad next year and that will be a M2 unit I'm not paying the eye watering prices Apple will charge for a device with a possible Oled screen, the fact it costs £1595 for a pro M2 now at 256GB is crazy considering its still gimped by iPad OS

Are you trying to argue that someone who just bought an iPhone 13 cannot do their job?

Really, you want to argue that you need the latest model of anything to do a job?

You really are deep into being consumed by consumerism.

How about an iPhone Ultra 8,2" with an extra button for whatever. Comes with two extra exchangeable batteries so you could go for a week without plugging the thing in? Color is free to choose. 2TB standard config. Built in projector so you can hook it up to your Mac as an external display. USB - D Port.

Calm down, calm down... it's just rumours.

Good, but you missed my point. I merely pointed out that it is not 'slightly'.

IMO a much more logical way to look at the cost is the marginal cost per year to upgrade: $1-$2 per day. You decide if having the most current phone tool is worth the cost of a daily cup of coffee to you, or not.
Your math doesn’t add up. $2 x 365 =$730. That’s just the first year. If you’re paying that for five years I have a bridge in Brooklyn I’d like to sell you 🤣 even $1 a day for five years would be $1,825. Let’s not overlook the cost of service providers, Apple care (if that’s you) and the phone accessories. There’s no logical way to justify a phone costing $1,200 dollars 🤷‍♂️ if you’re paying interest on it, even worse.

Exactly. I'm still on a 13 Pro Max and haven't lost any functionality. A friend has a new phone. We couldn't tell any difference in a speedier processor when it comes to using the phone.

Where are you taking your money? Oppo?
Come to my knowledge about those brands like the "nothing phone" that i have no idea where this brands are coming from but Google pixel got my eyes for the upcoming 8 pixel.....
don't get me wrong, i use ipad pro but an iphone for a daily driver... absolutely not.

Again, what is that really going to do for making a phone call, messaging, surfing the web, and opening apps? marginal performance gain at best and not noticeable is the real answer, all for a new phone. No thanks.
It has every thing to do with being a smartphone.
