The way suggested in post# 4 is to use some 3rd party website which will download the torrent on their own servers and you can then download the files from their server to iPad / iPhone using some sort of file manager.
Not really a solution per se.

Didn't see it, thanks.

In all reality, that isn't downloading torrents via device, more like downloading the media file via device.

God luck getting everything working for you. Despite what some people say, you can already do pretty much everything, and if you jailbreak you should be able to do everything else. Personally, I'm not jailbroken, but if it suits you, it sure beats having to use Android ;)

Out of curiosity, which iPad did you decide to go with? And if this is your first Apple device, welcome to the cult - err, family :apple:

If you wait too late and 6.1.3 is released, you can always buy an iPad 3. If you buy them directly from Apple, it'll have iOS 5.1.1.

Not sure why you are facing issues. I use iTransmission 2 and it downloads fine, and yes eztv too.

did you change anything in your settings? and do you download them magnet or do you go to the link? i just wanna watch some shows :(((

i thought about going android but the samsung tab has the worst screen resolution ever.... thought about nexus but its fugly.... even if it functions less as long as its more aesthetically pleasing im happy.

I got the ipad 4. I was debating between mini, but for what I wanted to it felt too small, even if it did get retina. especially when quasar becomes available.
not my first idevice but almost! had an ipod touch years ago and then got an iphone 5 like 2 months ago. cant stand all the huge phones that android make.... plus its plasticky

And why is that not a solution? You end up with the readily downloaded file that was in the torrent, on your iPad, without having to use a computer. I don't see the problem

I use both .torrent files and also magnet (using the inbuilt browser in itransmission 2). If you are facing issues, i suggest you try iTranmission 2 instead of 3. I never changed any settings and all is default which came when i installed the app.

It is a solution but not a solution for me. The reasons being that first i don't know all such services. One i know which has shut down is torrific. I have tried couple of others but they give very low download speeds (from their server to my device). They have restricted the speeds.
If you know of better ones please let me know.

I tried all 3 versions. I get peers to download from but it keeps saying metadata needed. And reaches 50%

Rushplayer+ so far is the best video player at least in terms of speed, quality and compatibility for all non-Apple video formats. I use it to play everything either way, but the way I see it is that all the well known or otherwised available video player use the system-wide Apple-standard video player that is native hardware accelerated. Players like GoodPlayer use this with software rendering for non-Apple formats that get's better with each release but isn't as polished.

Rushplayer+ is on Cydia and uses the native hardware acceleration for Apple formats, and uses some extra API's that App Store apps don't get, for non-Apple formats to be able to give native speed and quality rendering through software.

For any Apple formats I use just iFile since it's the most simple and I can just background AirPlay to the Apple TV while still using the device. iDevices for the win! Enjoy.

Metadata needed usually comes when dealing with magnet links.
Did you try a .torrent file ?

how do you try a .torrent file on itransmission 2? or on 3 i guess. I only saw it on 1.

I tried clicking the upload button on the web interface but it only lets me choose stuff from my camera roll or my photo stream....

And everytime i click on one of the download links, it says invalid torrent file.

Navigate to safari, go to your favourite torrent downloading website (not TPB since it uses magnets) and search the torrent.
I am assuming you have safari download manager and enabler installed at this point. If not then install using cydia. You will see new icon in safari for the download manager.
So now on the fav website, download the .torrent file in safari and it will be downloaded. Once it downloads, click the downloaded file from within safari (through the download manager) and it will ask OPEN IN...
choose iTranmission and it will accept the .torrent file and start downloading.
In case it does not show up after few seconds, just go back to safari and click the downloaded file again and when it asks OPEN IN, again do the same, iTranmission.

iTransmission giving you this error ?
Not sure what it means as i never got this error.
Btw the downloads probably are getting stored in /var/mobile/downloads directory if that matters.

If I sell my iPad in the fall and want to upgrade to the iPad 5 is there any way that I can restore old iOS version or do I have to keep it as is? Does anyone know if you can sell pre-jailbroken iPads on eBay?
