Another example is you can have up to 10 touchID fingerprints, but only 2 faceID's. So in reality you have 1 standard and 1 with sunglasses, but then your partner can't unlock the phone quickly to take pictures or make a call.

You don't have two set up Face ID twice for the same person with/without sunglasses. I unlock my iPhone XS with prescription sunglasses on all the time and I only have set up Face ID once with one face. Some sunglasses aren't compatible with Face ID.

There are several threads about this on different forums. Bottom Line: is that both are necessary at times and would be a crowd pleaser. An example is when your iPhone is laying on your desk and you don’t want to pick it up to use Face ID you could use Touch ID
Will Apple put it in ?? There’s always hope and a possibility and a prayer

This seems to be one of those topics where people get snobby and fiercely defensive about like each is a football team. For me, it’s just something that unlocks my phone and not something I over analyse or care too much about. My iPhone currently has TouchID and I’m sure my next one will have FaceID, what’s to get excited about here?

faceID works perfectly for me most of the time except in the car. could never get it to work right.

Can’t believe I’m saying this, but Face ID!

Because I’ve been trying out another service provider pay as you go sim in my main XR for a couple of weeks. See what the signal is like. It has meant me carrying around my old 6S with my current main SIM in it. And things like the 6S showing all your messages on the home screen are really annoying, because with Face ID it will not show the message until it scans my face!
That’s a great security feature there :)

Oh and logging into things and sites is easier with Face ID.

I prefer iphone with FaceID and TouchID. There are many instances where TouchID is more convenience than FaceID and vice versa.

Truthfully, I would like to see both forms offered with Face ID and touch ID. Now, I do think it’s not absolutely necessary they offer both, but choice is always good. And touch ID and face ID both have their inconsistencies and strong points. Apple could have offered both if they really wanted to, but usually Apple likes to have more control over proprietary hardware, which is likely why they wanted Face ID to be the sole factor moving forward for biometric security for the future. (<— At least according to Tim Cook’s point of view.)
