RX1 is full frame, X100S is APS-C. Not comparable.

Well, apart from the higher-res sensor, the two aren't that far from each other. After all, the X100s is pretty close to FF cameras, IQ-wise. It's "only" its DoF that is deeper.

I was able to snatch a refurb RX1 for $1,900, compared to the $1,300 asked for the X100S.
$600 more for a full frame sensor with better DOF and DR, 24mpix for more cropping, slightly smaller package...the original price of 3 grands was definitely a bit too much for it though.

I'm going to see how a fixed 35mm will feel like, during my vacation in Singapore and Bali next month, then for the rest of the gear I will wait till Photokina to see whether Canon or Sony announce anything new.

Already tried to stitch several pictures with Autopano Pro to simulate a wide-angle lense, but ended up with a fisheye looking picture:D

Let us know how you get on. I have always been interested in the RX1 but put off by the lack of a viewfinder and the ridiculous cost of adding one.

Personally, I'd only consider the Oly M43 gear as a supplement to my setup and not a replacement. I'm interested in the Sony A7 though. I'd have to see how it handled first and it would need more lenses available. If you're not shooting professionally though, the Oly gear would make for a good replacement. Hell, even if you are shooting professionally, you may be able to live with just an Oly OM camera and lense depending on what you shoot and how you like the camera.

Works for me on landscapes and wildlife. Olympus E-M1 with Panasonic 100-300mm lens with IS0=1600, fl=228mm, shutter=125, and aperture=f16.
