Is anyone else bothers by the fact that apple is only offering $110 dollars for the series 4? I have the stainless steel gold model and paid well over what they are offering as a trade in. It would be so much better to just go private party since apple is devaluing their own product to junk.

I am also annoyed with this. However...not much reason to upgrade. There is no speed bump and the two major features aren’t anything that is going to be worth it...at least in my opinion. I love my Series 4. I have the SS Space Gray. It’s freaking awesome!

it is a gorgeous watch, I think what bothers me is that apple made the bold move of not selling the series 4 anymore (all for the sake of making sure people buy the series 5) and on top of that basically told me my watch is junk but yet my iPhone is worth enough to cut the price of the iPhone 11 pro in half? come on now apple. I have the SS Gold model and I love it but I have been wanting to go back to a more neautral color. I really like the titanium model tbh.

I have many of the same feelings but I think what we are seeing here and more and more on eBay everyday is that an iPhone retains its value as people are willing to buy someone’s old phone but less so someone’s old watch that has been worn on their body for a year. Even worse it seems the people who ARE willing to buy a used watch from a stranger are so price conscious that they will nearly always choose an used aluminum model while those willing to value stainless steel and sapphire are also willing to pay to get it new... this is what is absolutely going to KILL trade in and resale values for any watch but in particular the stainless and Edition models.

I tend to upgrade yearly and I’m blessed to be able to afford it but it just feels wrong to spend $750+ a year on a nearly disposable watch that gets me only $110 easily and perhaps $200 if I work to put it on an auction site. It just is too much to stomach even though I could. For me personally I’m either going to start keeping my watches for 2 years or switching to aluminum to be more comfortable upgrading yearly, I just don’t know if my OCD can handle scratches on glass vs. my pristine sapphire.

Sell it on eBay. That’s what I always do.

No Apple is not devaluing their own product(s) to junk. They are just trying to tell you that they don't want your high end Apple watch back as there is little value to them to reprocess it or remove it from the resale marketplace.

That indicates that Apple does not want your Apple watch back / off the market. In the case of the better values (pricing) for trading in your iPhone, they really don't these iPhones it back either but just out of the market to keep their pricing model high for new models and keep you upgrading.

Yeah it doesn't make much sense to offer $100 for a scratched up aluminum and only a few dollars more more for a mint SS. I wonder what they even do with all these used watches.

If you can get more money elsewhere then do that. Apple doesn't need to offer to buy back anyone's devices. I don't see any reason to upgrade from a S4 unless you are deadset on having the always on display. If there was a significant difference between the S4 and S5 chip they would have mentioned it quite a bit in the keynote like they did the A13.

This is like when people complain about how much GameStop offers for trade ins. If you think you can sell it for more on your own then do it.

The same series 3 in aluminum $60 quoted by Apple. The macmeaoffer site quotes $115 for the same model but with band included.

Having both the S4 and S5 in the lineup makes zero sense. They never said your watch is junk.

Bingo.

There's an old adage in business that says never to tell a customer "No" -- always say "Yes" but for things you don't want to do price them so that the customer chooses to go elsewhere on their own. (or you can subcontract the task)

Apple doesn't seem to want people to trade in their old device, so they're undercutting the myriad other wholesalers. Yet Apple can still advertise themselves as recycling old devices since they *do* have a buyback program. Just not one anyone wants to use.

So if someone doesn't like the price Apple's offering -- go somewhere else. Lots of options to sell your old device to a wholesaler simply and easily.

Makes me furious. Want the S5, but we'll see what's in stock on the 20th. Choosing a different band delays shipment.

Sold my SS Milanese loop for $200 yesterday. The guy who bought it said he knew he could've bought a new one for that price. Not sure why he decided to buy mine...

Did he buy just the band off you for that price? If so you made a killing lol

Shortly after the keynote it didn't, but apparently at this point there are some stock/inventory constraints pushing things out. I ordered within the first hour or so of orders being taken and chose a different band with delivery slated for the 20th.

Wait what? You sold for $200 a used band which used to be $150 new and is now $100? Outstanding!:D

Wasn't sure I was buying it.

AW3 SS WITH Milanese loop. I'm not that good a salesman. ;)

as other have stated, I saw the trade in value being low and its a PIA to deal with 3rd part, and the fact it wasnt enough of a change from the s4 to the s5 I am waiting.

They’re offering $70 for stainless steel gen 3! I’d kill for $150 lol. That’s pretty laughably lame.
