I have used the Apple Trade In program many times for phones, computers and tablets and never once had an issue.

This morning however I got an email saying my traded in 2019 MBP was revalued downward $250 "Due to the condition of the device".

The laptop was pristine when I sent it so if it wasn't when it arrived it would have been damaged in shipping. I used the Apple provided box and dropped it off at the UPS store.

The email, nor my account details on Apple's website do not indicate the issue, is there any way I can find out and challenge within the 14-day window they provide to accept or reject the trade-in value?

Good to know! I’m still waiting my new MBP to be delivered but I didn’t know that I could do that .. to take the old one to the store even if I did the whole process online and I will be receiving the trade in kit ?

Also, since it’s my first time trading in a MBP I’m not sure if I should send the charger and cable?

I asked at Apple store and the guy said that if they didn’t ask on the website if I’m sending the charger, it would not be necessary but I’m afraid that it will affect the amount they estimated ? At the same time I would like to keep it if it’s not affecting the estimated price ?

Does anyone knows that or has past experiences to share?
I traded in with Apple and kept the cable and charger and it had no impact on the quoted trade in price. The instructions that came with the trade in box made NO mention of cables or charger. I did this in Dec 2021.

They asked for the power adapter/cables on my last few MacBook (Pro, Air and another Pro) and iMac trade ins but not on my iPads and iPhones.

Update: Apple did me right. I called 1800-MyApple and after being escalated I talked to a supervisor who said the issue was that the trade-in center was expecting a 16-inch Late 2019 and what I had was a 15-inch Mid 2019. I explained that I entered my serial number and that is what the Apple website showed during the trade-in phase of my purchase. He said would investigate and let me know. An hour later they replied and agreed to honor the original amount quoted and all is well with the world again.
