Problem is there is no media to be transferred. But yes as I posted above they can give you iLife if you contact them. The other way I have read is they will clear the serial number from their database of computers that have already redeemed their free iLife so that you can redeem it with your own. The new trend seems to be that they just give you vouchers to download a new copy with your apple id.

All done to avoid lawsuits as the practice of selling iLife bundled and installed with a new machine obligates them to restore it during warranty. As this is my opinion and since Apple is giving a free restore I guess they don't want to legal challange to the Eula agreement for iLife 09 referred to a few posts back.

New tech can cause a lot of legal problems and avoiding it is smart on apples part. The hardware/software warranty conflict with the Eula agreement is simpley sidestepped.

Are you really still going with this silly argument? Unless you can come up with some law or warranty clause that obligates Apple to do this, you are just spreading misinformation.

No, it's not "nuff said". Apple's policies/customer service and their legal obligations are two very different things.

well I tell you what the argument we are having is does the transferable 1 year warranty trump the eula statement.

I believe it does you say it does not. One day maybe it will go a court case. Maybe it never will. For the op of this thread apple decided to take the easy way out by giving them a new iLife. I think some apple stores/customer service would tell the customer no. Some customers would just walk away stop asking for it as a warranty repair and pay for it again. Some customers would fight and argue for it as part of the warranty. I personally would encourage every person that has the same problem as the op to fight for it as part of the warranty. Apple has plenty of money and can afford to issue it as a gesture of goodwill.

Again, nothing in the warranty requires Apple to restore iLife. If you think it does, please quote the exact clause in the warranty.
