hi guys, sometime in october, i got a 16gb black 3gs, then a month later i sent it back for the following reasons, i accidentally jailbroke it, it had scratches, and i needed more memory. dont ask how i accidentally jb'ed it. anyway my dad had bought applecare on the original one, now a few weeks later i tried to transfer the warranty over the phone, but the guy wrote down the wrong email address. so now its not transferred. but i would really like to transfer this so i can get my phone fixed when and if it breaks. can any of you tell me if this is possible to do online, or at the applestore, and if so can you tell me how? thanks in advance!

firstly, i dont want to waste an hour of my life being bored on the phone with an apple tech that will transfer me to another department who will write down the wrong email address again. and secondly. i downloaded blackra1n, jailbroke my touch, then i wanted to see what would happen if i clicked on it when nothing was plugged in, and i forgot my iphone was plugged in and it jailbroke it.

But we can't do anything for you. The people at Apple are the only ones who can transfer your AppleCare plan to your new phone. What do you expect us to do?

This is why 13 year olds shouldn't have iPhones. As for the JB, don't forget that anyone can go back and refer to your older posts about jailbreaking. Who wrote down the wrong email address? It's hard to believe anything you say once you lie on this list, BTW.

That annoyance aside, I am in the Christmas spirit and have some suggestions for you.

I have exchanged 2 defective iPhones and the Apple Care automatically transferred along with them, no problem, no calls.

But if you are having problems, for whatever reason, ask your Dad for the receipt for the AppleCare or find the box with the serial number. I suspect that you are going to have to call Customer Service anyway, I don't think the store will be able to deal with this. I could be wrong.

Get a big glass of milk and some Christmas cookies, man up and call. I suggest you call today before the Christmas gift questions start clogging up the phone lines and you will really have a long wait.

first of all, i am 14. second i am way to busy to be on the phone dealing with some guy screwing up my information.

I don't see how a 14 year old can be "way to busy" to be on the phone for ~30 minutes tops.
Seriously? Call Apple when you usually go to bed, and stay up for an extra 30 minutes...it won't kill you.

And I'm actually pretty positive the time you waited for replies from this board is greater than the time you would've spent on the phone with Apple.

I'm 15 for reference.

What are you talking about. You are 14...how busy are you? And if you really cared about transferring the applecare you would just call................................................

incase u havnt noticed, today is christmas eve, apple is probably closed on christmas eve, because IT IS A WORLDWIDE HOLIDAY!

No need to yell.

All but a two second Google.

Granted, that is the Retail stores. I'm pretty sure that the AppleCare will be open today.

And retail stores aren't closed on Christmas Eve, but they do have shorter hours (Generally speaking).

ok my question was, can u do it online? yes or no, can you do it at an apple store? yes or no. not should i call up apple like i did before so they can write down the wrong email address again?

quit bitching and call them, look how much time you have wasted on here, you could have solved it 3 times over by now.

Kids these days...

You can't transfer AppleCare from one product to another anyway. It's tied to the serial number.

The only way you can transfer AppleCare is if you get a in-warranty replacement, in which case it's automatically done whether it's through the store, online, or over the phone.

yes u can, i returned the phone and got a new one, i called up applecare, and i was almost done, but the fool wrote down the wrong email address. just tell me if i can do this online. i dont care about anything else.

I thought you were talking about buying a whole new phone, since you say "i needed more memory."

If it's a replacement through AppleCare, did you check http://www.apple.com/support/oss to make sure it didn't transfer?

ok i bought a 2 yr extended warranty when i got my 16gb, i sent it back, because i needed more memory, there was nothing wrong with it, my new 32gb iphone, has 1 year warranty on it, im trying to activate it, i have already checked my warranty online, and i returned the 16gb to at&t. i am just looking for a way to transfer online.

No you can't do it online as normally they won't let you do this. You have a special case. So phone them up its your best option. The other option is drive to an apple store and have them tell you to call. As I doubt they can do it.

If they're two different devices, with two different serial numbers (and part #'s), that were not swapped under AppleCare, you cannot transfer the plan.

Regardless, if you want to try you need to call them - 1-800-APL-CARE. Sorry, that's the only way to do it.

Use the online warranty coverage tool to see if your iPhone's serial number shows that it has an extra year of AppleCare

If it does, you don't need to do anything else

If it doesn't, there isn't an online tool that allows you to transfer warranties yourself, so you will need to talk to whoever arranged your replacement. If it was in a retail store, talk to the retail store. If was via AppleCare, then call AppleCare.

Just stop complaining. I'm 14 too. Yet, i can spare 45 or less minutes to call up Apple. I don't know why, but every time I swap out my iPhone or iPhone 3G, the Apple Care doesn't get transfered. So I called them. The iPhones are on the same email and Apple account. But all goes well. So after 45 minutes, I'm back in business. In your case, go to the store, cancel the plan, and get a refund. then purchase a new box. they said I would have to do that, if I registered the iPhone on the wrong email.
