I went from a 27-inch right down to a 15-inch MacBook and even that was fine once I got used to it. You don’t really have room for different windows but if you full screen everything and just swipe between them with the trackpad then it’s actually way easier and quicker than using a mouse. I don’t miss the bigger screen at all

A nice touch on this function of the touch screen.
Thanks for the tip!

I know this thread is about screen size, and the area difference between the 23.5” and 27” is over 30%, a huge and meaningful difference to me. That’s a lot of real estate to give up.

But another issue, and a key one for me, is the loss of ports. My 2017 iMac has 4 USB-A ports, 2 Thunderbolt/USB-C ports, Ethernet port, an headphone jack, and an SD card slot. I use every one of them but the headphone jack. I know that with any change to a 23.5” iMac will requires giving up 2 of the USB-A ports, the headphone jack, and the SD card slot. And going with the Mac mini solution still takes away the SD card slot and necessitates a separate monitor albeit not necessarily Apple’s, and adds in the requisite HDMI port.

I recognize the SD card support is gone with the dodo bird, Edsel car, dinosaurs, and 5¼” floppy disk drives, heavy sigh. Currently that’s how I import photos from my Nikon DSLR and it just works, to turn a phrase.

Yeah, I’m still postponing any kind of “upgrade” at this time, longing for but really not expecting a 27” iMac (see my Post #4 here). Under the category of Coulda-Woulda-Shoulda I regret not getting a 2020 17” iMac out of the refurb’d store when they were available. For an every-3-to-4-years upgrader, 7 years is just wow, smh.

The Mac Studio has the ports though you'd need a port hub for more than two USB-A ports.

I bought an iMac Pro two months ago: 4 USB-C and 4 USB-A, SD, etc. I love the iMac Pro more than my Mac Studio because of the monitor and speakers.

I went from iMac 27 to the new iMac 24. Actually, I prefer the 24’ ! Less movements of the head to make and the compact size makes it much easier to move or to turn (I wouldn’t mind, though, if the screen was slightly bigger, like a real 24 instead of 23.5, with slimmer bezels)

All dépends on your usage. If you use a lot iDesign, for example, the 27’ might be better

Thanks. To be honest I probably underutilize the 27” screen. I am just going to pull the trigger and get the 23.5” model. I’m just waiting for the M4’s to drop since it’s so close to launch.

Yes, better to wait for the M4. And let’s Hope mouse and keyboard Will be on USB-C !

one thing I would also like if I’d upgrade (I won’t since my M1 is still perfect) is that the screen would get an Even better antiflective coating. Or an option for a nano texture green. The screen of the iMac is a bit toi glossy in bright rooms

Hoping the announcement will come at the end of next month.

I've spotted a local offer (from a 2nd Mac dealer) of an iMac Pro for roughly 1100$. Do you think that's a good deal?

We had an iPad with the nano screen, while it did significantly reduce reflection outside, inside it seemed to mute the colors. I prefer my glossy ipad screen. Not sure if that compares to an iMac, but for what it is worth, I preferred the glossy to nano, but can understand some use cases where the nano would be superior.

I have read that in a lot of reviews on devices with the new nano screens. Lots of people saying it takes away from the color and quality of the display and to only get it if you have a light glare issue that needs to be addressed.
