I thought it was heavy till I met a boy who had no shoes ... Or, errr, umm ...

Just put down my Macbook a few minutes ago, picked this up to do some. Reading, comparatively very light.

The smudges are invisible except at angles usually when I'm not using. I use a dry microfiber when I do notice.

What ever

I picked up and used an iPad for the 1st time over the w/end. I have to say it was a lot heavier than I thought, and I had read a lot about it being this beforehand, but it did seem heavier than I thought it would be.

The screen was also a finger scuff magnet, I understand it was a test model so lots of grubby fingers but seemed to pick up really bad.

I was looking for an "excuse" to buy one for me. I had thought would be great to read for magazines I read at home (PDFs), it would be an extravagance for me really as my iMac is readily accessible downstairs for browsing.

Also how robust are they? do they need a cover? I have always covered my iPhone in a InvisibleShield on the front and an Incase Slider for the back. They look like they may scratch easily on the back?

cheers
Finger scuff---you can clean it
Scratch easy on the back---who cares, I have never used mine by looking at the back--iPad works best viewing from the front screen.
I only keep my iPad in a case when not using it or in my backpack. I hate covers. Screen is made from glass, very hard to scratch.
Lastly, of all the things the iPad can do, you zero in on viewing PDF's. Not sure I get it. I love mine and I have helped Apple sell at least 3 more by showing family and friends..They all love it.

It was actually lighter than I expected after reading all the whinging and whining about it on here.
