Hi,

I'm working on fixing my sisters Macbook Air A1496. I already opened it and tried a few things such as disconnecting and replugging the battery.

The issues are as following:

It wont boot (possibly due no power) It wont charge and already bought a new official charger, there is no LED light when connecting it so I'm suspecting the I/O card and magsafe port may be broken, is there a good way to test this? I was thinking of doing a 1 to 1 pin on the magsafe to charger to check if the physical connectivity is good with a multimetre.

Any tips are appreciated as I know very little about Macbooks in general, yet repairing one. I have all the nessescary tools and already opened the service lid so testing anything being suggested should be quick and easy. :)

Ok, just listen, don’t have anything to lose lol. It worked for me once when my mba wouldn’t boot. Close the lid. Shake it, but don’t drop it! Try to turn it on.
There was a thread I found about a sudden motion sensor possibly failing or being stuck, this can re set it and let it boot.

Sorry it sounds crazy. I thought the same thing when I read that post but it’s been booting fine ever since!

If you get no LED at all on the magsafe connector, and tried a different power adapter (the charger!), and still no LED, then your next step is to try a magsafe board (the I/O board on the MBAir includes the Magsafe connector)
There's not much else that you can try. The I/O board is not particularly difficult to replace, probably can be done in less than 15 minutes. There's easy-to-follow steps on iFixit guides - https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/MacBook+Air+13-Inch+Mid+2013+I-O+Board+Replacement/15229

Thank you all, just ordered the new I/O board yesterday, I will keep you all posted on how this goes. Replacing it seems like an easy job :)
