I noticed this initially on my 7 Plus and iPad Pro with the Apple rainbow wallpaper. It looked as if some stripes appeared before others.

Didn't even notice the effect with the ferns because I set it as Home Screen instead of Lock Screen...

Ok, they're pretty cool!

Hang on a second!...The Lock/Home Screen I've used for years also has a similar effect....Can others confirm...Maybe it's just a fade effect...

(As a bonus, it should hide the notch on the X).

Also do you set as still or perspective for the lock screen?

The effect still works if you set "Reduce Motion", which of course any sane person does.
