Yet you still hang out on the alternatives board.. does it pain you to see beautiful Samsung devices wipe the floor with pitiful stale tired iOS toys... just cos you get robbed blind into making expensive purchases doesn't make it a wise choice... you know it, I know it.. and the sad thing.. we know that you know it....

LOL you think I'm an iPhone fan ? ha ha ha ha ha ha The iPhone is only made for stupid teenagers and old grandparents that don't know any better. It's the Fischer Price toy of smartphones. It's a super dated OS running on a decent piece of hardware.

In my opinion, the best smartphone has always been the stock vanilla Android phones, like the Nexus, OnePlus, Razer Phone, Pixel, etc...

Scamdung's Lagwiz is just not my cup of tea, but if you enjoy smartphones with tons of bloatware and laggy interface, that's cool, I then say different strokes for different folks.

Samsung isn't the end-all of iOS alternatives. I'm here and also not a HUGE fan of Samsung (though I have a Samsung tablet).

While TB's tirade against Samsung can get repetitive and tiresome, he's no iOS fan. Pay attention and try reading what he wrote before sprewing out your own cliche anti-Apple rant. He's a big proponent of stock Android and now uses a Pixel 2 XL.
Who cares what he wrote! All he does is slam Samsung. We get it, you don't like them. Move on and stop being childish about it and say the same things over and over.
Then he posts his phone history purchases in his sig..lol. Just shows he likes to waste money and is never happy. BTW, I dont prefer stock Android but you don't see me saying it everytime someone says they like it.

You get what you pay for.
Good luck.

You don't get what you pay for with iPhone. You get what you paid for half of stuff. I have used several midrange Android phones over past half years, all to them worked wonderfully. (Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Pixel, Huawei Nova, Nova 2, P10, P10 Lite, P20, P20 Lite, Mate 10, Moto X, Moto X 2014, Moto G, Moto G2, Moto G3, Moto E, Moto E2, Smartisan U3, U3 Pro 2, Xiaomi M1, Xiaomi Redmi Note, Redmi Note 2, RedMi Note 4 etc). All of these phone workes wonderfully to these days. I am stopped using iPhone all together since iPhone 6S. Never looked back, no regret.

I won't touch any Samsung phones.

Well that’s debatable.

With the iPhone you get guaranteed software updates for 4-5 years, excellent after sales support, privacy and security, a better selection of higher quality apps and a wider range of compatible accessories. So in that sense you get what you pay for.

I think we all value different things.

Likewise for me, when I get an android phone I get a flagship because for me I’m paying for top of the range specs and features. Samsung are the biggest android manufacturer so there are more accessories and services available for their devices. Also I’ve used Samsung devices in the past so in a sense ‘trust’ them to give me another great experience.

I agree...after a while it becomes a bit much. He has every right to express his dis like for Samsung phones. But the it is HOW he says it that get very tiresome very fast.

I think people should be respectful of others when expressing opinions. Something that is disliked by one person is someone else favorite something.

Using superlatives like samscum or samdung is very childish imho. It does nothing but provoke others and leads to these post wars that happens so very often here.

My new response to this question is just go back to your iPhone. Some people are just more comfortable with Apple making all the decisions for them, it provides a very basic and straightforward experience. Android is awesome but its just not for some people.

It’s silly when they go out of their way
to post in a thread about a device/company they clearly don’t like and be childish about it at the same time.

He obviously after having a poke at Samsung couldn’t resist coming back to say the same tired things he says about Apple.

Wow tough crowd here LOL. No sense of humor or sarcasm allowed it seems. Everybody's too serious, just lighten up a bit and roll with the comedy.

At the end of the day I say " different strokes, for different folks ". I prefer a stock Android type OS like in a Nexus or OnePlus, or Razer or, Essential, or Pixel phone. If you want a smooth lag free experience those are typically the phones to offer that.

If you prefer a phone with tons of bloatware, duplicate apps that Google already has, and a UI that will eventually get jittery. Then get a LG or Samsung phone. I personally will pass on that.

And actually with the recent Jailbreak I would recommend an iPhone now. A JB is desperately needed to make an iPhone actually good. The tweaks and changes from a JB transform the into something really great

Comedy? You and I have different opinions of comedy.
And here you are saying the same things over and over again. Stock Android, no lag, yada,yada,yada..., if you prefer phones with bloatware blah, blah, blah. Same things you said just yesterday. You are a broken record, must be OCD too to keep repeating yourself as if nobody read it the past 100 times. That's comedy huh? Maybe in a room with a bunch of people with dementia.

I had a Nexus 5. Didn't like it,stock Android is boring, didn't get recognized on flights to use their WiFi.
Samsung adds features I like. I don't use the TouchWiz browser anyways and if there is lag, it is very minimul and I have no problem with it. They give deals constantly on their phones where most don't as often,......Apple, never! I don't care the reason why they do, they do and I got my S9 for half price.
Only other Android I'd buy is a Motorola right now. Maybe a Pixel down the road but only if it's on a deal but it still has boring stock Android with no added features that Samsung give..,.but I'm not someone to change my phone every few months. I see no reason for it.

I think the pixel has gotten slightly better and there are some interesting AI elements. Back in the day the nexus devices had very substandard hardwear. The pixel is slightly better than the older nexus devices but still lacks a lot the premium hardware features of the flagship galaxy phones, like wireless charging, micro SD expansion, sub par water resistance, lack of dual cameras, dated design, subpar displays etc.

On top of that like you I find stock android boring and most of the interesting features like multi window Samsung had years ago. I think the pixel phones are overpriced from a hardware point of view. I also like getting free gifts from Samsung. Last year I got the Dex station with my note 8 and a nice pair of AKG headphones with my S9 plus this time.

However I understand that some people like stock android and thus the pixel phones but they aren’t for me.

The only google phone that has ever interested me in anyway is the nexus 6, because of the 6 inch display which at the time was bigger than the displays on the note 4 and iPhone 6S Plus but it has all of the usual compromises so it was no bueno for me.

When I was using iPhone. I refuse to update my iPhone beyond 2 software updates. iPhone just became laggy mess after 2 software updates. Once i accidentally updated my iPhone 6 to iOS 10, it was painfully lag. I simply don't care and most people does not care about guaranteed software updates. Heck i seen people with iPhone 6 with original firmware. While iPhone has better after sale support in where Apple Store exits, it is not better when you are living in area where no Apple Store exists (like where i was from before).

I do not find Android's app selection is lacking compare with iOS. I will argue most apps that people use are on both platform. I have yet met a app that requires me pull out of my aging iPhone 6S.

I mostly buy mid-rang Android smartphone with exception of Huawei's P10, P20 and Mate 10. I found that with new mid-rang phone, performance is just as good as these top end smartphone with significant better price value ratio.

One of my buddies has a iPhone 5 and he hasnt updated his the last couple times either. Refuses to buy a new one til his dies because of the prices they go for.

Um, huh? What feature of in-flight WiFi requires that the device be recognized for support?
Southwest Airlines. Not all phones are supported to use their On Board app with their WiFi to watch live TV shows or watch movies or anything else the app does and my Nexus 5 was one that wasn't.

Skinned Android does not automatically means it is bad. I have few Huawei phone with EMUI and Smartisan phones with Smartisan OS, they are all working great and lag free. I love features these phone brings to the table. Lots of features are not presented on stock android or Google brought these features to stock android lot late.

Even Samsung skinned phones are past the point of being laggy,. The S9 + runs as smooth as a pixel 2 and has way more features and better hardware.

It's not that I'm computer illiterate, I work as a software developer with the occasional network-monkey gig on the side.

But when it comes to smart phones, I think I just want dumb, secure, easy. Not spend more time looking at it than absolutely necessary.

If it weren't for Whatsapp, I'd gladly go back to a proper flip phone.

There’s nothing wrong with having a preference and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You want a phone that’s going to get out of the way and just run WhatsApp. I’d say you could look into feature phones if you want something cheap, but otherwise the iPhone might just be the thing for you.

In that case you should have no issues with an Android phone whatsoever. Security is the only reason you might want to stick with an iPhone but even that is arguable. The thing is the points you were making in your opening post were pointing towards you not understanding how Android works. Once you have everything setup the experience on modern Android phones is very pleasant and simply just works. I spent the first day or 2 getting my S9 setup and have not touched a single setting since, i just use it.

If you're coming from an iPhone 5, an iPhone 7 will be quite an upgrade - you will notice it.

I've never liked Samsung, owning the 8 at one point, and can't imagine their budget offerings to be much good. Having said that, there is no budget iPhone (unless you count the SE which is getting quite old by now).

A used iPhone 7 will make you happy.

This sums up my experience with android devices.... I am always impressed by the hardware and love it at first... But then I start using Android and it all goes to hell in a handbasket... then I come running back to iOS.
