Why? If it was new content then if the site is properly configured it would just be a case of updating information on a database and the next request would get the new data. Even with different servers for each country it wouldn't be too difficult to synchronise. Could you imagine the BBC or CNN doing this to their site everytime a new story came along?

They use a completely different way of doing it.

Apple can' use this way because then they wouldn't be able to let you pay or anything.

This feels rather unexpected, I wouldn't have thought that xserve and/or 2tb Time Capsule would be worth closing the store for. But if it was anything really news worthy there would have been a keynote.

My favourite pipedream? Better GPU options for the Mac Pro. Perhaps discontinuing the GT120 and replacing it with a GT130 or HD4670 and giving a free one to existing users. Lowering the price of the 512MB HD4870 and adding a 1GB HD4890 or 1GB GTX285 high-end option and adding back a Quadro with the FX5800.

In more realistic speculation, I always thought today would be the Tuesday for 10.5.7. Not sure what hardware they could be releasing though.

The german store is down as well. Typically they go live again around UTC 12:30.

By the way variable pricing is not yet enabled in the german itms.
