app was currently 99cents on the app store, so i bought it to get rid of the ads on the pro version but unfortunately ads are still here. i asked tunein whats the issue, they replied as such

Hello,

Thank you for your purchase. Currently TuneIn Radio Pro is $0.99. The only difference between TuneIn Radio and TuneIn Radio Pro is the recording feature. Thank you for supporting TuneIn.

Sincerely,

Michelle
TuneIn

from my own experiences, previous versions of tunein radio pro had no ads, this is so annoying. anyone experiencing this?

They are not the first to pull a 180 on paying customers. It's a despicable move and it's probably illegal (the previous updates of the Pro version were touted as ad-free).

i tried to report the app on the store , i love the app but not not sure if i want a refund or not

I love TuneIn radio, but I do not seem to encounter ads - where/when do they appear? I am using TunIne Radio Pro 5.0 on iOS7.

Dont see any ads on pro 5 using iOS7. I have had a long time though and paid full price not sure if a factor

If you are hearing ads, those are coming from the free streams that you're listening to, not the app. If you're occasionally hearing an ad about the TuneIn Radio app that's just a coincidence.

These are banner ads displayed within the user interface.

I have never seen an ad on the paid version, and I've been using it daily for years.

Are you sure you're using the paid one? Do you still have the free one installed?

Edit: saw your iPad screenshot. This is really strange - have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as deleting the free one if you have it installed?

Yes, it's the paid version. No, I do not have the free installed.

Replies from TuneIn Support that were quoted in the thread I linked above sate that the only difference between the 'Pro' version is the ability to record, implying that ads come with both versions.

Either way, ads on a 'Pro' version that was previously touted as advertisement free amounts to false advertising.

I hope they aren't going to start putting ads on mine in that case.

But it'd be worth deleting it and reinstalling it again.

Tried it a few times on both my iPhone and iPad and nothing has changed.

I've fired off emails to both Apple and TuneIn and I'll update when I get replies back.

My apologies.

Out of curiosity, I uninstalled my (ad-free for years) paid-version copy and re-installed it. There are ads! Audio ads play before your selected stream and banners!

Don't update to 5.0 if you can avoid it; but I hope they resolve this bait and switch in the next update.

Yeah that sucks cause I was about to buy it at the discounted price of 99c and read all the reviews trashing the ads in the paid version.

Surely this has to be illegal? The reason I upgraded the paid one was to avoid ads and that was how they were promoting the pro version.

I've no ads yet, but I guess they might appear if I uninstall then reinstall!

I have Version 5.0 with IOS7 and updated TuneIn on the 7th Nov and luckily don't have any ads yet.

I think i'll skip any updates in future.
