Ill have to agree that Waze is a good one. Someone else mentioned it's only good if others are using it. Not entirely true. It will still route you and get you were you want to go. But if others are using it you have the advantage of being warned about Radar traps, accidents, hazards and the like. Cant go wrong if you ask me.
I also have Navigon as well, but always choose Waze for some reason.

BTW, I paid for several GPS apps, including Navigon and they ALL SUCK! Thankfully I just bought a new car with gps built in.

I have both a Honda and Ford built in system and Motion X beats them both. If you're frustrated, try it. Free turn by turn for 30 days too.

Will we ever see a turn by turn GPS from Maps?

I have downloaded so many different gps but non work well. I live in Mexico City and it can be confusing...The iPhone´s Maps has the best routes and best reliable maps. I´m afraid I´ll crash one of these days by having to look at it!

TomTom is the best one in my opinion.

I had Motion X and while it was good, I don't believe in subscription based apps....I was also really annoyed that they lied. They said that once the trial ran out it would do turn by turn but no voice...since I alway turn off the voice that was fine with me. Well 30 days ran out and it basically turned into the built in maps...no more turn by turn....deleted.

As I said, I paid for Navigon, so I'm not opposed to a pricey app that works....but subscription means you pay for it forever....no thanks.

If you can afford Navigon, get it. It is by far the best navigation app I have ever used on any mobile phone.

If you can't afford it, there's an app called MotionX GPS Drive. Not nearly as nice as Navigon but it does offer turn by turn. It's also 99¢ in the app store with a free 30 day trial. After the trial is a yearly charge but it's pretty cheap.

I am also disappointed Maps was not updated with turn by turn. Especially on the 4S - Siri does everything you ask it, I thought for sure you could ask it to read directions. It definitely is dangerous trying to read directions & drive at the same time, especially in a big city.

Really? I have found thatthe routes waze uses are often times much longer (in both distance and arrival) than those by navigon

I know waze "learns" the more you use it but I find this to be a big deterrent for me

I've tried a bunch of the different paid ones and the only turn by turn apps I've ever liked is Waze. But it's pretty heavily used in my area.

"Waze" is an amazing free app that gives awesome turn by turn direction as well as integrates social media to alert you of accidents, building traffic, etc.

It's what I use for my GPS on the iPhone and it works flawlessly.
