Another thing to note is that this forum is not Apple's issue tracking/feedback system. If you want them to fix the "irritating eye sores" then posting here is the very last thing that will get it sorted. You need to send in feedback. Apple now includes the feedback assistant with El Capitan (you can find in Applications > Utilities). Use it because that's exactly what it is for!

Yes, file a Radar. I've heard it before and can still hear Apple Engineering laughter ringing in my ears.

That aside, we come here to create active discussion and debates about things like this "non-bug" bug.

Thanks for this! I'll probably need to use this at some point.

Unfortunately, nothing obvious disables this bugged behavior. Stupid Apple.

Please excuse my lack of experience and knowledge, but how exactly would you input this into terminal? Assuming that's what you need to do. I have the same problem and it's driving me crazy

Please read the thread. The feature can’t be disabled. What you quoted was not meant to be a solution, only an analysis.

Sure it is a bug. Trying to argue otherwise is silly when I can be scrolling the screen and if I hit the left edge accidentally then a stupid window slides in to take focus and confuse the user. That it can't be turned off makes it a high priority bug.

Apple did it on purpose. Therefore it's not a bug.

No, this is not a bug. It is an oversight on Apple's part to not include an option to disable this.

This feature would be a bug if, for example, the cursor is moved away from the edge and the bookmarks still show.

True, good point. Maybe its because non-developers associate the word 'Bug' with 'It Bugs Me'
Because that darned autoshow sidebar, does Bug like heck

The behavior is system-wide, not just in Safari. If there's a setting to turn it off, it would be a system one.

That's right, it's intended behavior, just as the green button going fullscreen by default is not a bug but intentional. However, in both examples, Apple has failed to include a simple setting to disable/revert it.

What is a bug to you is a very useful feature to someone else. What you see as a solution is someone else's "irritating eye sores". This is not a bug due to the simple fact that the functionality behaves exactly as it should. The only difference here is that you disagree with the behaviour Apple thought out which is something completely different. The same applies to the term "oversight". Oversight means that you didn't see a certain aspect of the behaviour. We don't know if this is the case. Apple might have seen the issue and decided that it is not a problem. It's a decision making style you see everyday in nearly every business and outside businesses.

So no, this is definitely not a bug nor a design flaw, oversight, etc. The only thing this is, is behaviour you don't like.
