@JSBRGX , just love your response. Most of your crazy habits sounds very close to how I do things. Was under the impression that I am the only one and no one else is THAT particular and crazy about some asp of their device.I have quite a few habits, some of them crazier than others.
I restart my iPhone and iPad a few times during the week. I actually have a routine that I do once or twice a week that is somewhat similar to yours.
First I delete the list of all recent calls, then I delete my messages, unless there is an important one, then it will be saved. Then I delete read emails. Then I close all tabs and delete browser history. Then I go through my photos - often there may be screenshots or photos that have been sent that I no longer need, they are deleted and the most recently deleted folder is cleaned up after. Finally, I close all apps and press "Restart" in the Shortcut app where I have created a button that restarts my iPhone/iPad.
Of other habits. I never update OTA, I always update via iTunes or Finder depending on which computer I have at the time, and with each new version, for example iOS 16 → iOS 17, I do a clean install and start over. I never use backup. Always fresh installation. Lucky I only have approx. 35 apps, so it is not so unmanageable when apps have to be downloaded and set up again. It's another habit - I ONLY have apps I use. I don't have apps that I don't use - or "maybe" need. If less important services have a well-functioning web version, then I prefer it over apps.
Another habit. My iPhone and iPad have exactly the same setup, the same wallpaper, and the same icons in the dock. I like when I take my iPad that things are in the same place as on my iPhone, and vice versa. I don't have any apps on the home screen either, I access all my apps from the App Library.
You are not alone. There are probably also some who have even more crazy habits, I see it as maintenance, just like vacuuming your car, wiping off dust and tidying up the garden. As for avoiding the OTA updates, I see it more as my security to avoid problems down the road, both with battery, memory and all the little bugs.@JSBRGX , just love your response. I get more emails from shopping than anything important. I do check the important email accounts and leave the others. I now delete 1000 emails a day, and will be going through my photos this weekend.A question not just for you but all others with huge numbers of unread emails. If any contain urgent or important information it is likely too late for you to do anything about it. Why not bulk delete them?
Because your iPhone turns on when you plug in the charger? Plug in the charger first, then turn off your phone and it will stay off while charging. When I had a Nokia 6100 I loved that it could be switched off and plugged in to charge overnight without turning on, however that seemed to end with smartphones. I have my sleep focus activate at 2200 and end at 0800 as an automation.
Oh really? I never knew that it charged whilst turned off, thank you ☺️Because your iPhone turns on when you plug in the charger? Plug in the charger first, then turn off your phone and it will stay off while charging.
Yep - it's what I do every night. Do note that with it turned off, the "optimised charging" feature won't work. Not that it works very reliably anyway for me as my sleep-wake times aren't consistent. I use the 5W charger* if charging it overnight.Because your iPhone turns on when you plug in the charger? Plug in the charger first, then turn off your phone and it will stay off while charging.
I do the same thing. I would hate to receive bad news and find out hours later that if my phone was on, I would’ve received that call. I’ve been using the 5w brick since my 6+ and am still using it, but start switching to the 20w brick in 2 weeks after getting my 15PM.I reboot my iPhone once a week usually.
For the mail, I keep all messages on the inbox and read them all. Only delete trash messages.
I don’t turn it off at night because I like to be available if there’s something bad. I have 4 contacts allowed to call me even if Sleep mode is active. Also I always charge it with 5W at night.
