I’m on day four now of no issues and have been switching accounts regularly. I’d have to say I’m confident this issue is now fixed.

As you don’t have TestFlight I’d have to assume that didn’t have anything to do with it after all and Apple must have resolved this problem in an update without mentioning it in the releases notes and the fix didn’t kick in until a factory reset was done. It takes a bit of time but I’d recommend resetting yours and seeing how it goes as I haven’t had the problem since the factory reset.
Good news, I did factory reset to the Apple TV and have done the setup from scratch manually and it is working fine! Thanks for sharing the solution!

No need to reset your Apple TV, guys. I found that this happens with two-factor authentication accounts. With those accounts it’s usually required to set it up using iPhone or by first logging in to that account from a web browser. Also, from time to time these steps may be required even if that account was already successfully added to the Apple TV

I have 4 accounts on my AppleTV and all 4 have 2FA enabled. I've never run into this issue on AppleTVs that I set up manually using the remote to sign in.
I’m talking accounts for stores from different countries

I have different accounts from different countries with 2FA and have no issues switching between those profiles on the AppleTV.
When I switch to use the other stores on my iPhone however I need to enter a 2FA code for verification before I’m able to have access.

So are you saying switching off 2FA will resolve the issue? If so, how do I do that? I do have 2FA on as when I switch or log in to the account on any other device, I do get a code sent to my mobile. I can’t remember ever having activated this, however, I thought it was done an Apple’s side and was mandatory.

I have just had the issue happen again when I switched from my DE to US account. It was still showing the DE store and I had to log out and back into the store on my Apple TV. Hasn’t happened for weeks so I thought I’d fixed it. Annoyingly I reinstalled test flight just a matter of days ago so it does again make me wonder if the issue is somehow linked to a sandbox account after all as the issue was gone for weeks now and suddenly returned after I reinstalled test flight.

Apple made 2FA mandatory at least 2 to 2.5 years ago because that's the last time I create an Apple ID. Before that, it was an option and, whenever I log into an Apple ID that does not have 2FA enabled, I'm always presented with the option to "upgrade" to 2FA.

Don’t know how to switch 2FA off or even if it’s possible. I just never enabled it. But looking at this closely it appears this problem with switching accounts is affected by how frequently you log in with a given account. I find that if I log in to another account on my phone or Mac before doing that on my Apple TV, the issue is gone. So much for “it just works”

After enabling 2FA, you have 2 weeks to disable it; otherwise, it will be enabled permanently.

If the account was created within the last 2 years, 2FA was mandatory.

Has anybody found a solution to this?

This worked perfectly until last week when our Apple TV died and we bought a replacement. Now it doesn’t work at all anymore. Our previous Apple TV was on tvOS 18 and experienced no issues.

I’m not sure if the fact that it worked before was a glitch or if this is the glitch.
