Not sure what you mean. They could easily just had a small battery in there that recharges when necessary, when you plug in the outlet.gosh some of you people are pretty dense
full disclosure im not buying one
They could easily just have a small rechargeable battery in there to power the find my feature when needed. I mean the thing literally plugs into a wall outlet as it's main function. The answer to this is in the same paragraph as the one that says it has a battery.
Rechargeable batteries aren’t the bees knees of everything. A significant challenge they can pose in this scenario is temperature management. A GaN charger can get pretty warm putting out high wattage. It would have to throttle to ensure battery temperatures stay within safe ranges…How about have a separate small rechargeable battery to power the find my feature?
Theres some pretty good threads covering different models over in the airtags forum section. tons of options!
hey at least you can track the return!Does anyone has the 120W version? I had it and it gets noticeably warm even with no devices connected to it when it’s plugged in to the outlet. This is strange in my opinion. When I connected Apple MagSafe Duo and charged iPhone and Apple Watch it started to be a bit hot and this charger only takes like 20W-ish. I sent it back and am wondering if my unit was faulty or this is normal for this product. If it is normal, I would expect throttling when person connects devices which request more power.
