Season 3 is 18 parts. However keep in mind that it’s not 18 episodes. It’s one single movie, about 18 hours long. It’s not meant to be separated in parts. Once you see it, you’ll understand why it’s key.
Also be sure to watch FWWM (possibly twice) and TMP before watching TP3. I also suggest that you watch Lynch’s Eraserhead, although it’s not “mandatory”.
I wouldn’t subscribe. Blu ray boxet is coming out in a couple of weeks and it’s not that expensive. Reason I suggest this is that sounds and video quality are pivotal for TP3’s plot. (Yep)
Blueray Box Set? Thanks for the tip, but usually to buy the equivalent of a season is significantly more expensive than subscribing for a month on something like Showtime. Any ideas what the price will box set will be?

$50 I believe. Of course it’s a suggestion, it won’t ruin the show or anything if you watch it streamed (hopefully you have a good audio system or good headphones... and can watch it in the darkness).
However FWWM and TMP must be watched before TP:TR.

FWWM is essential. You must watch it before adventuring into TP:TR. I would suggest to watch it twice due to its weirdness.
TMP is “The Missing Pieces”, which is a collection of 90 minutes of scenes deleted from FWWM. They are not simple outtakes but they are scenes removed from the movie even if they have significant relevance to the plot. It’s basically a movie on its own that completes the arc.

I’m into Season 2 post Bob. I took a break last week traveling for Thanksgiving week. I’ll pickup it again soon, and report back! :D

Can't wait to hear what you think about season 3. It's been awhile since I watched season 2 and got right into season 3. So maybe it's completely different. But either way, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)

Don’t tell me that you watched S3 without watching FWWM first!

Is FWWM on Netflix? Rhetorical, I’ll research it. :)

Just resumed with Season 2 episodes 2 and 3. Nadine made me laugh, plus she beats up Hank Jennings, who was beating up Ed Hurley because he was seeing Norma Jennings. Colonial Briggs returns from his sudden dissapearence shaken and talks about project Blue Book. Jean Renault is dealt with in a hostage situation with the help of Agent Denise Bryson and my God, it looks like Leo Johnson has awoken from his coma. Shelly screams. :)

Season 2: E15- The mystery of the WhitecLodge. Windom Earl, Thomas Eckhardt, and Andrew Packard! Leo Johnson is the prisoner of Windom Earl (Cooper’s former FBI partner) outfitted with a shock collar. James Hurley is setup by Evelyn Marsh. Donna Hayward tries to help him. Ben Horne who has been General Lee for the last few episodes, finally snaps out of it after the South wins the Civil War. I’m enjoying Miguel Ferrer in this. :D

The General Lee storyline lol. One of the best worst things ever.

Is there a way to watch FWWM with the missing pieces plugged in?

Season 2:Ep 21 & 22 (season and original series final)-
Josie killed by fear or by Bob? (A couple episodes ago.) Leo partially redeems himself releasing Maj Briggs (co-prisoner of Windome Earl) to save Shelly. Ben Horne is Donna Hayward’s Father?! Did Audrey and Pete Martell survive the blast at the bank!? The Black Lodge surreal. Not a happy ending for the series, at this point.

So Fire Walk With Me and the Missing Pieces are a prequel? Apparently there is a fan edit combing these two items called Last Days, but it looks like the person who combined these two items has taken it off line. If you watch FWWM, followed by The Missing Pieces, does it make sense?
Do you really need to watch the Missing Pieces?

And Season 3 picks up 25 years later?

FWWM leave out pieces that are in MP for a good reason. It focuses on a few interesting things, leaving out parts that are irrelevant. Now, MP should be watched to gain some more familiarity with the overall theme, but it’s not a necessary watch. FWWM must be watched, possibly twice.
S3 takes place 25 years later, exactly as Laura Palmer told Cooper in the black lodge.

Now, before you begin TP:TR (S3) there are a few things you MUST know (no spoilers):
  • TP:TR is intended as a single 18 hour stretch. It is divided in episodes for broadcasting reasons, but it was filmed as a single 18 hour movie, and NO filmed scene was left out. The structure is completely different than a TV series, and so is the rythm.
  • It is much much better if seen as a whole. Watching TP:TR in a single day completely changed my enjoyment of it... for the better. I strongly suggest that you watch at least two episodes in a single sitting. E1+E2, E3+E4, etc.
  • I strongly suggest that you watch it in the dark, possible with a decent audio system. Sounds are important.
  • Remember that it’s a Lynch+Frost movie. As Showtime’s CEO said, “It’s David Lynch on heroine”. You will understand. And to preserve your sanity, don’t ask questions ;)
  • TP:TR is full of very minute details that most people notice after the fourth or fifth watch. I mean, it’s truly full.
Also, it’s not really a spoiler as I won’t tell you anything about the plot, but since I am going to refer to two episodes in particular you might want to skip. Here,

Be sure that when you watch Episode 8 and Episode 18 you’re not interrupted. Be sure to turn off the phone, no sms’s, no text messages, loud TV audio (possibly good headphones), darkness sorrounding you. You will see what true art is.

Keep us posted, I truly enjoy reading your voyage into the Twinpeaksian universe!

I thought this thread would be about the restaurant!

You mean that Hooters style restaurant? In the current cultural climate I'm surprised that those places aren't extinct.

However I would go out of my way to visit a black lodge style bar/coffee shop. It could be like a rainforest cafe situation but instead of a thunderstorm every twenty minutes, its just flashing blue lights and people screaming their heads off!

That would be the Twin Peaks that I was thinking about.
I am curious what is a "black lodge style bar/coffee shop?" I am not familiar with "black lodge" so you have my curiosity now.

If you want to know then you must watch the best TV series and the best [18 hour long] movie ever :)

The Black Lodge is a reference in Twin Peaks, to a paranormal place of evil. There is also a place called the White Lodge.
