Love the look & feel of twinkle, but its the only app I've used today (albeit I have been opening and closing it a good amount) and my battery seems to be nearing the halfway mark after 48min of "usage". Also had one short phone call that lasted about 5 min. 3G is turned off, too.

I guess twinkle is pinging the GPS quite a bit? Anyone else noticing battery drain?

Seems slow at times, and 75% of the time it has problems locating me, wich is the only app Ive used that has that problem, and when it does, 50% of the time my location isnt anywhere where I am.

Tried posting on it and got server error as well. I'll give it a go later tonight

Yeah Server are down and nothing is working ATM. I guess this is the one drawback about this application. I dont like the fact that it is 2 networks instead of just 1.

Thought I would give it a go, seeing as it appears to be quite well praised. But it doesnt work? Says getting my location, Looking for messages etc. But nothing. Maybe the server is down or something and my timing was bad luck, I don't know.
[edit] Oops, ok, I see the server is indeed down now

Do people even read previous posts anymore?

The post right above yours states that their servers are down.

Hence the edit I made immediately afterwards (That was included in your own quote). That you apparently didn't even notice/read before posting your comment.

Why is there a separate network for this Twitter client anyway? I've been happy with Twittelator and it just seems rather silly to have a separate network to log into rather than just the Twitter id info.

I would take a guess and say they are planning their own social network around their apps since the Tapulous identity is also used in Tap Tap.

Someone with Cocoa skills needs to get in contact with the genius behind www.hahlo.com and get it native on the iPhone. Every view you could want, including the "near me" option. Pull it up on your iPhone or make it into a fluid app (I have mine in the menubar). Too great to be left as a web only app.

I can't get Twinkle to connect for nothing. I enter my Twitter identity and it keeps telling me the servers are down. Doesn't make sense.

Seperate network

I think they use there network to keep track of location of everybody. That way they know what tweets to pull of the Twitter server for local twitters in your area.

Sigining in

Just wanted to share what I found out when trying to setup Twinkle. I saw that others were having problems getting it setup. Click on Identity and put a user name, pic, and email address in the boxes. Don't click on the twitter button yet. Click the save button on top right. Now go into the settings on the bottom right corner and click on Identity again. Now click on the twitter button and enter your Twitter account info. And hit save. I was not saving before I went into setting up the Twitter info and it must erase everything I put in before I clicked the Twitter button. Therefore, giving me an authorization error.

It's repeatedly quitting on me now. Tried restarting the phone, no dice.

Sorry if I sound harsh, but what is the point of the app anyway? All I see (for the short time it worked) is random inane posts like "Im going to do something now, I think I will run a bath" or "Im stuck in traffic waiting to get out of a car park" and "I just hosed down my patio" with a link to a... bare looking picture of someones patio??

Am I missing something? I wanted to like it, but..

Nope; you're not missing anything. Welcome to the wonderful world of Twitter: news network of the trivial and mundane!

I've been using Twitterific, which I think looks great, but performs poorly on my 1st gen iPhone. Scrolling is sluggish and avatars constantly re-load for each post, even if they've already loaded! Anybody else notice this, and if so, is Twinkle smother?

Twinkle is much smoother. Not as pretty but a vastly superior UI and more features (follow/unfollow, see list of tweets from a user, location stuff, DM tab)

Thanks! I just realized I wrote "smother" instead of "smoother", which implies a feature I actually didn't want. I'll try it based on your recommendation.

Anyone else have the problem of tweets not appearing on Twitter? i had hoped that twinkle would automatically sync itself with Twitter but I guess from reading these posts... its its own separate network. That sucks.

Sorry to bump up such an old post, but iam a noob when it comes to these twitter things...i was just wondering if any Twinkle users out there can confirm that Twinkle doesn't use SMS? I'd like to try it out, but i don't wanna get tagged with a huge number of text messages as i do not have unlimited texting...if anyone can help out it'd be much appreciated, thanks!

To my knowledge, the only thing to use up your SMS quota is SMS's, oddly enough. Twinkle and other similar apps use internet data. Be it wifi, 3g or edge.
