My UE Boom is absolutely incredible. I have not used the Soundlink, but I have used the UE Mobile Boombox, Jawbone Jambox, and the JBL Flip. The UE Boom BY FAR has the best sound of them all. It also gets LOUD without distortion. Not the greatest bass output, but that's to be expected with it's footprint.

It also has the best implementation of bluetooth out of all the devices listed. Just an overall awesome device.

(I do not work for Logitech/UE, just really pleased with my purchase)

Perfect summary. I also have not used the BOSE, however I have compared the UE Boom with the Beats Pill and the JBL flip and the UE BOOM smashed them out of the park!

I was blown away how loud it could go without distorting.

For those who have not even heard the Bose yet still bash it, really need to put a sock in it.

i am really impressed w/the bose and ive always thought they were mall hype-traps.

they should make a rugged version w/the waterproof mesh UE uses- id probably even shell out $50 more for that version. the rubber case they sell just doesnt cut it for durability- i want to be able to take this off my nightstand and down with me to wash a car or hose off a deck

I've been doing homework on a Bluetooth speaker over the past week and I've narrowed my choices down to these two and the big jambox. I eventually pulled the trigger for a black/red ue boom. I'm willing to bet the Bose sounds better but the "outside-friendly" factor made me choose the boom.

i think if you want to move it from the bedroom to the office to the hotel room to the dry porch on a nice night, etc then the bose is def. the way to go.

i stuck with the Boom and returned the bose because I want to take it to the lake, hose off my backyard, bring it on the beach, etc.

what ue boom has over bose mini.. water resistant, louder, its speaks battery percentage to you, longer battery life, free app, ability to pair 2 speakers at once, speaker phone, universal usb charger that everyone has

bose mini: more bass, and looks nicer, replaceable battery.. thats it..
the bose mini only takes bose cable

i actually own both of these.. and like the ue boom more. everything else on the market, i would take bose. but this is the one and only exception..

What the Bose has over the UE boom is overall sound quality that's all.

Nice to hear from someone who actually owns both of them. Was considering the Bose but I think the UE Boom is just to good value to pass up.

I own them both as well, also jawbone jambox. If you are more concerned with value and features of a speaker more than the sound quality then by all means pass on the Bose.

It's a portable speaker, so yes the features matter quite alot. I think the Logitechs decent sound will suffice for the beach. And for the home; I prefer B&O.

Then perhaps you should look into the B&O portable solution.
Its got a nice leather handle. LOL

I bought instead the pioneer A1 got 2 from best buy deal of the day. They are amazing and instead of Bluetooth they are airplay $39 each

I'm selling my Bose Soundlink (original) Bluetooth speaker and getting the Mini Boom. The Bose is way too bass-heavy for the podcasts I use it for. I've spent time looking for an equalizer program for it to turn down the bass, but no luck so far.

Battery replacement

Being able to link 2 UE Boom's together for a surround sound/more full sound is amazing. Plus the longer battery life & wider bluetooth range (50 ft vs Bose's 30) is all I need. Logitech > Bose.

I just purchased my second UE boom but now I'm nervous reading about battery replacement. Does it concern you that the battery in the UE boom cannot be replaced and once they go the boom no longer works?

Just asking I do love the stereo effect.

This. A friend of mine has a Red UE Boom and while the boom has a slight advantage over the mini in sound volume, the lack of bass and overall sound quality caused me to pick the Soundlink Mini over the boom. Could not be happier. It is nice the the UE supports stereo output using their app, but if I were to buy 2 booms, I might as well consider buying a Sonos speaker. Nah, the Spundlink Mini, is one amazing little speaker.

Best 3 sound quality wise are....

Bose Soundlink
Bose Soundlink Mini
JBL Charge

Best 3 Battery Life

JBL Charge
Bose Soundlink
Bose Soundlink Mini

Best Value

JBL Charge
Bose Soundlink
Bose Sounlink Mini

I bought my mom the Soundlink for Christmas 2012 and it is great for $300. Well worth the price. The JBL charge i bought for myself after comparing everything else to it, this came the closest plus the added benefit of having a USB port on the JBL to charge your devices if you want, a HUGE plus. The soundlink mini i got it for someone for christmas, not nearly as loud as the Soundlink or JBL charge, but sounds very nice and almost as good as the Soundlink.

Overall my choice would be the JBL charge, half the price of the soundlink at $150, plus the added USB port i mentioned.

A soundlink mini cost's £160 ( .... just bought 1 for £138 on sale).
A UE Boom cost's £170

So whats with the posts saying that the Bose is overpriced or more expensive?

Do either of these have apt-x? Personally, I hear quite a difference between my apt-x gear and the gear that uses SBC when paired with my MacBook Air. It's an important feature for me now.

Agreed. I was between the UE Boom and the JBL Charge, and I felt the Charge had slightly better sound out of the box, and was $30 cheaper. Both of them blew the Beats Pills out of the water, and although I didn't do an A/B test, I didn't feel the sound on the Bose was worth the price at all, and I generally end up unimpressed with Bose all the time.

The one that shocked me, price/quality wise, was the Soundfreq. Pretty damn good sound for the price, but not as full of a soundstage as the JBL or UE.

sonos ftw

I surprised no one has talked about how incredible Sonos is! It isn't portable in the sense that you can take it to the beach, but you can unplug it and move from room to room in your house. The sound is better than the Bose, at least in my opinion. You can get a play1 and it has plenty of strength to fill a room with gorgeous sound.

I know it kind of sucks that you have to buy a bridge that connects with your home network to make the speaker truly wireless, but if you contact me I can send you one for free. Just let me know!

Love Sonos. Their PlayBar and Wireless Sub are awesome sounding with a pair of Play3’s for the rear. I've installed several of of these setups (along with Play5's) in clients homes. The Sonos app is improving (as it needed to).
