Hey fellow UK'ers, thought this might be a help to some of you.

Clinton Cards are running a 'buy one, get the second half price' offer on all iTunes gift cards this weekend running until, I believe, the 31st of May. I popped in last night on the way home from work and confirmed it was nationwide (and picked up 2 £25 cards for £37.50 while I was at it, seemed rude not to :D). Great timing if you're looking to load up your shiny new iPad with apps.

Nice spot, thanks :). Think I'll get a couple of £25 cards myself :D

Ah. Thanks Smiddlehurst. I think I'm going to nominate you for my "hero of the week" award. The award carries no prize of any sort, it's more down to the considerable prestige associated with winning it.

I need to add up what I'm thinking of spending on apps to see if I buy one or two pairs of cards.

Would I be safe in assuming that iBooks all go through the same iTunes billing mechanism and hence these gift cards can be used towards purchases from the iBook store as well as purchases from the app store? If that is the case then I can definitely justify buying two pairs of cards and might even buy 3 pairs.

Yes, the iBooks are purchased through iTunes too :)

Wahhhh  our local Clinton cards knew nothing about it and said 'no' when asked if they would do it because other Clinton cards were doing it ..

Ho hum .. I s'pose it kind of seemed too good to be true!

That stinks! Sorry about that, I'm now trying to remember if there was a code they typed in or if it was an automatic discount at the till. Might be worth asking them to scan them through and see what happens? Oh, and I asked when this is meant to be running to when I got a second lot from my local Clinton and was told... 'we don't know'. Which it has to be said isn't the most useful answer I've received in my life.

Does this aware come with some sort of giant cardboard medal wrapped in suitably shiny material, possibly even (dare I say) tinfoil? Ooooooh, shiny....

And yep, iTunes vouchers should be good for music, movies, books, tv shows, audiobooks and apps. I've topped my account up to about £80 and by the time I'm done getting what I want hopefully I'll take about £30 forward for future use. One word of caution, I believe they are only usable in the currency they were bought in, so you can't use British cards on an American iTunes account for example.

I wish I'd read this before I just spent £75 on apps!

Thanks for the heads up though

I don't know if this is a thread jack or not, but on the west side of the pond Office Max has a sale this week for 20% off when you buy two $25 iTunes cards. It will end today. Just in case any other USAnians are looking in on this thread.

If the staff don't know about it just ask them to scan the cards through the till - the one I went to in Cotteridge said no as well until I insisted they try.

It's def on - go get some.

Real good timing as well - i've gone a bit made on books and films. Getting some more tomorrow.:D

Thanks for the heads up.... Worked in Glasgow £60 for £45 was automatic on the till.... No instore / window adverts....

Out of curiosity is it a bad thing that I'm looking at games like Need For Speed Shift and Mirror's Edge thinking 'well, it's at the top end of my price range (at least without a demo) but as I'm basically getting 25% off that...'? Starting to waver on my previous "I WILL hold out for a price drop" philosophy.

Well I've just bought those two plus a couple more and also the elements - all of which I thought were 'too much'.

Dangerous having money in the account.

I even bought chris evans book!

Hey do you have a link for this offer?

Can these gift cards be used towards the actual ipad itself or just things through itunes?

Max six cards per customer at my local Clintons, so I availed myself of 6 x £25. That's £37.50 FREE MONEY.
