Does 'ships by' mean that it'll leave their place on the 28th or delivered by the 28th. I have the 28th off work but then I'm in work all weekend and then Monday-Wednesday so if it comes a day late or on Monday I'm gonna have to wait to have full play with it. That would not be fun.

It won't come Monday. It's a bank holiday.

so the question is now, how many units will each UK retail store have available on release day?

I didnt get a pre order in so looks like it will be an early morning camp out on release day

depends on the size of the store. I recon that smaller apple stores will have maybe 100 of each memory in wifi and 100 3G in each. Maybe less. Either way it will be a bit of a scrum wherever you go. Wonder if the newly opened Best Buy shops over here will be carrying them?

I pre ordered my iPad early hours of Monday morning and says its being delivered by May 28th while the case says shipped by May 28th. Does the case being shipped remain the 28th or does it now move to the 7th? It only says about the separate products on the confirmatione email, it doesn't state when individual products will be shipped/delivered on the order status. It just says estimated shipping: Delivered by May 28th and lists the iPad and the case.

Well, I decided on Monday to take a chance and go to a store on launch day - That's pretty much made my mind up now!

The only difference, is that I now need to get there a bit earlier to make sure I'm DEFINATELY number one in the queue!

Glad I'm going for a 64Gb - Hopefully, there'll be plenty of stock for me :D

Not if I get there first!!!

Well considering they've had two months to build up stocks I've gotta figure they've got at LEAST as many as the US launch so, what, 500,000 as a minimum shared between the six territories? Probably more than that as the 3G model is out as well. Considering they're still struggling to keep stocks available in the US I wouldn't be at all surprised to see them make it past 3 million units in the first 3 months.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if they sell every single one they can build. We'll see if that is 3 million units in the first 3 months ;)

Was in the same boat. A WORD OF WARNING!! :(
iPad delivered by May 28th, camera connection kit 7th June. However if you read your order it says items will not ship until order is complete.

I rang Apple and they confirmed the order would not ship until all items available even though the iPad says delivered by 28th. The rep advised I cancelled the camera connection kit and now my order says delivered by 28th May.

I origanally asked about split shipping and a request was made but nothing came of it, order still said ships 7th Jane. After my second phone call I asked about this and rep said probably not going to work so better to buy camera kit at a later date.

I would take it with a pinch of salt. They told me totally opposite today. With a big launch like this the iPad would not be held up by accessories. I did quote the bit on the order that says they send when the order is complete. She told me to disregard that. Big launches like this, that doesn't count.

I called the apple store at newcastle mainly to ask about a reserve to pick up and the guy at the store kinda laughed and said, "dont worry we will have plenty in stock"

Ok so i just ordered a 32GB online and wondered if I buy one on launch at the store, will i still have enough time to cancel my online order once I get home??

First rule of government spending, why have one when you can have two at twice the cost?

Yeah, I called the Regent Street one in London and that's what one of the staff told me. He said they would have loads in store and as long as you came on the day of the release, then u should be able to pick one up

I didn't order one online as im working 8am -4pm and wouldn't have been home to sign for it. Would have been great if you could pre order and pick up from store but Apple said no can do.

I'm now hoping i can pick up a 32gig 3g model during my lunch break btw 12pm -1pm on the 28th May

very nice and topical!!

I think i'll keep the online one and rock up at regent street on the friday and see what happens. always good to have a backup plan... wait maybe i should work for the government!!

I spoke to an Apple sales guy and I asked him about the change on the website from 'By May 28th' to 'By June 7th'. He said some if ordered now may still arrive by May 28th depending on which version of the iPad is ordered as some have been more popular than others.
