I'm going to wait and see what the prices are first...if it's typical "shaft the UK" prices I will ask my mate who's currently in the States to try get me one :)

release the price today

On this matter am I the only one that hopes they release the price today (Friday) so that I am not going to go into an apple store Monday morning and not pre order because the price is high.

Nope, you are not alone. I too am hoping that we get to hear pricing details today so that I can decide over the weekend which model I want.

I'm definitely pre-ordering on Monday, minimum 32Gb whatever the cost, but if it's a good price I may treat myself to more space or even 3G. Will have to wait and see.

Me too.

I'm fairly sure that the iPhone releases all had the prices released beforehand and they certainly knew about the pricing in the US. I can't imagine that Apple would leave it until Monday morning to tell us how much it's going to cost.

I'm signed up to the "keep me updated about iPads" email list from Apple but I've heard nothing yet.

Would be nice to get a heads-up on the price...maybe Apple will surprise us and announce the price before Monday...though the way the rest of the world has been treated regarding iPad price info...I wouldn't count on it lol

Just spoke to my local store (Bristol) and they advised the following:

  • They are opening early on Monday to allow to Pre-Order's - 09:00am
  • There wont be a display model to play with
  • You can pre-order as soon as you receive the notification email from Apple.com/uk/ipad
  • Not known if there will be a per person/credit card limit like in the US

sales wet dream

Just chatting to one of the sales people in my office over lunch and he said that if they had so much success in the US selling a new almost unseen product they might not release the price until Monday morning with the pre order to test if they can have the same success in Europe without even letting the public test the product or know how much it will cost. His words were to the effect of “it’s a sales wet dream selling to people who do not know how much they are going to pay or what they are getting at the end of it”

I'm still contemplating a pre-order, although the price vs need scale has thinned out a little since the height and hype of the US release. I managed to hold back on importing one, and depending on price, I might end up holding out on the iPad altogether until the second rev.

I still want one, but I'm not as willing to submit myself to Apple over the iPad as I was. "Unbelievable price" is a pretty subjective term depending on the person, so I'm playing the wait and see game.

Some price confirmations before Monday would be great, though!

Just spoken to my local "premium" apple reseller, there is seemingly a mention of the launch being pushed back. But pre-orders on the 10th still.

Im taking it with a pinch of salt, but if its true I will not be happy. And as an avid fan of Apple (my world revolves around the green fruit) I will be greatly disappointed with Jobs and his team.

Just checking for flights to the US now.

That's not good at all!!!

I'll still be watching eBay between Monday 10th and Monday 31st anyway so maybe I can get one before hand. Who knows.

If you get a flight let me know and I'll splash some cash your way to get me one too ;-)

Just found a few flights for late next week. If its going to be pushed back again ill just jump on the first flight available. I will be bringing a couple back if I do go.

Just hope this is a bit of news that is not going to come true!

My nearest Apple store who I have also just called are now saying they are only going to give infomation about pre-orders at 10am on the opening of the store. There is nothing special happening, no early opening or anything. They have been briefed that they are not to discuss pre-orders till Monday 10am.

As I'm looking at an iPad for development I'd probably get the WiFi+3G version but will only get the 16GB version. Don't have the funds for the 32/64GB version.

Looking at making an app as my third year University project. Moving from Java/C development environment.

I might do in-store collection on monday if Apple allow *depending if I can collect about 10 to 10.30 am.

Maybe get a couple accessories like a case, not sure yet.

o/

32gb 3G pour moi.

I'm going on my hols on June 5th, so I'm hoping I take delivery of it a few days prior so I can pack it full of content.

Ditto, and ditto! 32GB 3G - although I was going to get the 64Gb until Air Video impressed me on my iPhone, and I wised up to the fact that the iPad is only going to be a music player every now and again, so I'll only need about 5Gb for music, say 10-15GB for films/tv series, and the rest for apps etc.

A nice long Bank Holiday weekend to play with the iPad... and I had the Friday off as well! Result!

So happy about the release date! I'm not working on the 28th as chance would have it :D

I wonder if they'll accept student discount for pre orders?

£100 premium for 3G is utterly laughable. Ought really to be about £60.

Still, £599 for the 32gb 3G I'm after. Thought it'd be £649 or so, although still a gouge, not *quite* as appalling as I expected. Good timing too;

-28th May is payday
-from 28th May I'm off work for 5 days anyway
-go on holiday June 7th, leaving me (hopefully) a week to load it up :)

Getting excited now!

+1

I shall be pre-ordering my 64GB WiFi on Monday :D

:) That's deffo the right choice for a lot of people.

Myself, I get huge swathes of free time at work so 3G is essential.

I had a sneaky (wrong) feeling the price difference between the 32 & 64 3G wouldn't be so much, thinking I may be tempted by the latter, but forget it. £599 is irrational enough as it is o_0

So anyway, how does preordering work exactly? Assuming the stock is available and I preorder on Monday, will it actually arrive by post on the 28th, or is store pickup a better/different option? Live near the Manchester Apple store by the way.

Agreed.

£599 for an iPad is really stretching the boundaries of its true value in my opinion, but £699 is just crazy.

I think the 2 most popular will be the 64GB WiFi and the 32GB 3G.

Both the same price (£599)

Just for people to decided based on their requirements if they need 3G or more GB?
