I've actually been surprised at how few requests there've been, but I'm making this thread anyways. If there's an app that doesn't exist yet that you would like to see happen, mention it here. Developers can post here to say that they've completed a request.

I'll start off with one that quite frankly I'm surprised doesn't exist. An app to write sheet music, then send it to your computer. It should allow snap to grid, but still have flexibility. Preferably for piano, but other instruments, while not useful to me in particular, would be awesome. Finally, you should be able to save a song and get it onto your computer in a printable format, ready to print out properly on paper. I'm a dev myself, but I don't think I can manage doing something like this yet.

How about the missing profiles app. I think, Iphone should allow the users to change the profile like turn on bluetooth when in car, turn off vibration at home and all those profiles that are available in any $20 phone.

A profile app will be great to have.

This seems like a no-brainer. To make it even MORE interesting, have the program be able to "play back" what you write! I can see an app like this being quite succesful.

I would love an app to allow me to print to a network printer. My printer at work is down today and I need to print something, which is going to require me to drag my laptop home just to print something tonight. Would be great if we could have an app to tell the phone to print to a printer on the same network.

PLEASE!

A decent, SIMPLE, recipe app. I just want a decent recipe app with a clean interface that I can enter my recipes into and view later.

I don't necessarily want/need grocery list integration like some have tried, as I already have a shopping list application that works great.

It would be pretty cool to have a "sharing" aspect of it to be able to share your recipe to other users of the same app.

I can help with the graphic aspect of it if anyone wants to tackle this!

An app something like this is one that I am planning on making. Patience! ;)

Question: How much would you be willing to pay for an app like this?

I replied in the other thread about this in more depth. $20-50, depending on how much it did was the essence of it. I too am looking forward to an app like this :)

Well, Finale Notepad is $20 and Finale itself is $600.

For an application like that, if you made it drag and drop (or tap and tap), playback (maybe throw in recording since it's the same framework), and of course be able to email yourself (somehow...), then I'd pay a good $24.99

Yeah, I went a bit more in-depth when he asked the question in my own thread. I actually mentioned Finale...I own it, despite the ridiculous pricing. I would assume note entry would best be made touch, drag to desired location, and let go, but I have no idea.

Ok, my wish for an app probably isn't like the rest of you. But I'm a mom of twins who love to use all the education apps that are out there. We've bought just about every early education app there is. My boys love
all the fun games but I have them do a math page before they can play!

I would love an app that could be a reward chart for my boys. I can add a star or check mark whenever they complete a task from the list of things that I have put on their chart. Ex: clean room, homework and things like that. Making sure there can be seperate reward charts for different children.

Please Please Please someone make this app. I can't be the only
parent that could find this useful :D

I was looking for something on the cheaper side... I don't require, though it would be nice, a playback feature. I'm 15 and don't have lenient enough parents to pay $20 on an app that "duplicates the functionality of paper"... $5 is my limit, and that'd probably have to be without them knowing. How about a lighter free version, with an upgraded one to pay for?

You reading my mind? I was planning on a $5-10 lite version, depending on functionality, and then a more-pricier but full-blown version at ...

This one is half request half just throwing it out there, a little bit wondering if apple would even allow it.

I love programming on mobile devices, I used to do all my work on my palm, for the palm platform. I did graphics, everything right there. Now that I have a touch, I really want to program on it. I put this idea with another I had for the palm a long time ago....

If you've used the palm you'll know that like any other mobile device it didn't have right click pop up menus, and it didn't have multiple windows on the screen. But, using just BASIC with a slow interpreter, I wrote my own window system and was on my way to pop up menus when my palm broke. I was trying to write my own launcher. I want to do the same on the iphone. At first it'd just be for demo purposes, there wouldn't be anything in particular to do. But if I could partner up with someone who could write an interpreter, you could have your own launcher within the iphone. You would write BASIC apps in this app, and since you can't install apps on your iphone they would be "installed" to the launcher I wrote... except it'd all be in the same app. First, this would allow users access to a programming language on their iphone, which is awesome. Second, it allows them to actually use the application they program, which is even more awesome. Third, they get a new launcher to mess around with, more like a desktop.

Unfortunately a lot of what I said is above me, even what I already accomplished on the palm. Back then I was dealing with a BASIC that I knew inside out, which I'm far from getting to with objc. And I can't write a BASIC interpreter. Finally, I'm not sure apple would allow it because it would give developers the chance to develop anything they want for the iphone, including stuff apple doesn't approve of. for instance, someone could write a browser within this app.

Anyways, it would be awesome if someone/me could do this. *sigh*......

I am hoping someone could make an app similar to the Baseball Mogul game from Sports Mogul. It would make my plane rides much more bearable.

Wow, if that app existed I would totally buy it!

Football Manager!

A lite version of Football Manager or LMA Manager. It would be brilliant but a bit on the large side. Maybe they could slim it down by reducing GFX?
Anyone else agree here?

If not Football Manager, then maybe something like Fight Night? I'm open to either :p

Can someone make a gamefly app? Similar to PhoneFlix?

Also, how far can devs go into the bluetooth of the phone? Because i think a great app too, would be a Keyboard/Mouse app similar to the one that came out recently for OSX, that would work as a bluetooth device for PS3.

I would like an application like one of those phrase trainers where you can load a song and loops parts of it slowed down without changing the pitch. Used for learning fast parts or for transcribing songs. I don't know if one is available or not, just thought of it while reading this thread.

What about a midi file player that you can control each track for panning, volume, etc..

Gradebook!

Given how much of a hand Apple has in the education market, I really don't understand why there isn't a gradebook app. There are about 20 apps that help students track their own grades. There are apps for attendance, at least two "EZgrader" type apps, for homework assignments, and even apps that can be used to track observations of students in special ed environments. But. No. Gradebook.

And don't tell me to use one of the spreadsheet apps. They're just not that good, and I don't have time to fuss with formulas. I am a specials teacher and this is what I want to be able to do:

1. Tap on a class. The class opens with a list of names.

2. The date is automatically added to the entry, although it can be changed. Tap next to each name to rotate through various choices for each person. There is an attendance app that does something like this, but you can't customize the choices. It allows "present," "absent," etc. Most specials teachers (art, gym, etc.) simply give a class grade to each student, often based on a rubric. So for one class I could tap to rotate through 4, 3, 2, 1, and absent (for instance).

3. At the end of each quarter, export the whole thing as a .CSV and import into a spreadsheet to calculate the grade.

I just don't see why this is so difficult. I know this kind of app would be incredibly useful for many people. But even just a pain old spreadsheet-style gradebook would at least be a start!

And while we're here, I also can. not. believe. there is no PLANBOOK app either. The first developer to get a standards-based planbook app into the app store would make an absolute killing. Integrate it with a gradebook and they'd be set for life!

And two more words: EXTERNAL KEYBOARD. That there is none is a travesty. Apple is sending mixed messages on this issue. On the one hand, they say the iphone/ipod touch is primarily for music and entertainment. On the other hand they allow the release of thousands of apps that would be ten times easier to use with a regular keyboard. Either give us a bluetooth or direct-connect keyboard, or stop promoting apps that would work much better with one. Sorry, had to vent on that.

PS... LOVE the idea of a 20Q app!
