It's an investment people. Nobody is going to wear the shoes. I could afford to buy them, but I wouldn't want to risk that much of my investment portfolio on a pair of shoes. If they sell for 75K in 2 years I'll be kicking myself. Not with those shoes though . .

Hey, I have sneakers that are over 20y old and I do wear them, though not every day and only for my 30m workouts. Still original shoe-laces. No sign of de-vulcanization or de-lamination. But I only ever wear them indoors.

In what a world we living? Tomorrow I leave the Milky Way for sure
People who can afford to bid on stuff like this do it as an investment. You can make a lot of money in the collectibles market if you know what you are doing. In ten years these might be worth $100K, doubling the money of the collector.

Buying artwork is also a good investment. It’s just we peons can’t grok the value. We just stick money in a savings account because it’s ‘safe’.

The sneaker resale market is on pace to being a 30 billion dollar industry by 2030. These will double, triple or even quadruple in price by that time. I would currently have to sell 1/3rd of my collection for this 1 pair and that's not happening
