And the beauty of a single ultra wide monitor is that you can also use it like 3x 4:3 monitors.

Therefore, you can put the most important window right in front of you. And two more windows on both sides.

This is 2x 1080P setup can't do.

And of course, the windows size can be adjusted as well.

I have two 1080p and the text is blurry and gives me a headache. I have a 2015 MBP 13”, runninternet Big Sur 11.2.
You can try to force enable HiDPI (even your monitor isn't 4K monitor).

This may able to greatly improve font rendering, and fix the burry text issue.

QUESTION: fine, but how do you operate the menu bar? it sits very far to the left, in the top left corner, and the app SecondBar does not work on Big Sur. How does one move the menu bar to a more comfortable position, e.g. the top-middle.

Actually my 5120x1440 (PHILIPS 499) works fine on High Sierra and later, provided the laptop's lid is closed. But the Philips has more electronics in it than the others (though it uses the actual LCD of Samsung I believe)
I also operated that High Sierra laptop with two old Cinema displays, 2x2560x1600, which gave me 10% more pixels but split over two screens. Even with 10% fewer pixels, the single screen is more comfortable, provided I can move the menu bar to the middle.
