Hi. I am having some trouble with my studio ultra wifi. I am able to browse and many times though out the day i am unable to connect to many sites, while others connect just fine. I don't have any VPN's. When I am able to connect to a website, i try my phone/ipad/win computer in the same room and they all connect quickly without a hicup.

Here is what i have done so far
- Deleted my network from preferences
- Deleted my network settings files and rebooted
- DNS Flush
- Tried creating a new account.
- Removed IP tracking
- Updated router firmware

I am connected to RBR750 w/2 satellites. Any advice?

And so it begins…

I was hoping the Studio wouldn’t suffer from the same problem that continues to plague the Mini. *sigh*

I really hope not, but currently, I seem to be the only one complaining about it.

when you option-click on the wifi fan on the menu bar, what does it show? especially for noise, RSSI and TX rate

It always says your connection is working as expected. When these problems happen I don't loose connection to my router and my wifi symbol is on/normal.

This time i received basic connectivity failure in the diagnostic. However I am still able to browse

WIFI may not work well inside a metal faraday cage. Maybe look into an external WIFI dongle connected to either USB-C or LAN port.

I went to the apple store and they did their testing and concluded that I should take a replacement. They had an ultra in stock. So I will try again and see if the same problem continues.

- They ran their internal tests and everything checked out.
- They did the terminal command network quality -v and it showed a low rpm
- the last test was to ping www.apple.com and saw some packet drops. When they walked away, I tried the ping on another studio and it showed the same packet loss.

I hope it all works out!

Sorry you were having issues with it. I'm glad to hear Apple took care of you and had one available to give you as a replacement. Mine is currently hooked up via ethernet. I might connect it to wifi and test it out. Let's hope you're an isolated case.

I use only wired Ethernet on all my desktop computers.

Why slow down your expensive system by using wireless ?

Wireless is only used with my iPad, iPhone, and Apple Watch.

Wireless is still flaky, not consistent, and prone to packet collisions / losses.

We just moved into a home built in the 80's. There are no ethernet jacks at the moment, although I can make it happen. FIOS wifi has been wonderful 600+ on most of my devices around the house. We are doing a major remodel soon, if I can't fix it, I will be sure to run a cable direct to the router.

if you're using FIOS, look into using the MOCA 2.5 bridges and any existing RG-6/59 cables for a backbone.

I have eliminated everything MOCA (I think). I have YouTube tv. I just received my new STUDIO MAC and so far everything WIFI is super fast. I will report in the next few days.

You really think that Apple, the company that literally pioneered the use of WiFi for consumers, that has created hundreds of devices with radios and antenna built in, just like, tossed a whip inside that metal box without thinking about it at all? Really? You don't think they designed it so it'll get good signal strength? You think the company clever enough to disguise a light as though it shines through aluminum can't manage the same for the antenna, placing it well or giving it egress through or around the metal enclosure?
