The small amount of storage on the N4 without the ability to expand it would be a deal breaker for me. I'd rather get a different Android phone with either more storage or the ability to expand it.

i switched from verizon and went contract free on t-mobile, buying a nexus 4 in the process. overall, it was mostly a good experience (save for mildly poor battery life). i love ios and i love my iphone 5, but sometimes you just gotta try something new.

i know all my friends prefer facetime simply because of ease of use.

I don't doubt that at all. I'm just saying, it depends largely on what you're used to and what you've been using for the longer period of time. That's all. I'm sure I'd your friends had to use Skype, they'd be ok with it. It isn't exactly a difficult thing to pick up and use, after all.

For $300, why not a gs3? I see sealed ones going for $350 around at our place...

I had thought that very thing. :) Wouldn't a Nexus be preferable, though, do to the "pure" Android experience? I hear lots of great things about the GS3.

Get the Nexus 4. iOS is far behind Android nowadays, but maybe wait for the Keynote to see if anything interesting is announced besides some graphical changes.

Absolutely! I've (I think) decided to get the N4, but I AM going to wait until after the keynote. :)

I have an 8GB iPhone 4 and it's never really been a big issue. I don't keep a ton of music (maybe 1-1.5GB), videos (only what I record of my baby lol), or big apps (don't game much other than Ticket to Ride :D), so 16GB will actually be an improvement for me.

Absolutely! Thanks for the great link!

That being said, what do you guys/gals think about the colors? I have a white iPhone 4 (and I prefer the white iPhones), but the N4 is still a black "front" - I'm leaning toward the black in it, but the white is a bit more unique. Suggestions? (And I know this is purely opinion... anybody seen both colors in person to get a good perspective?)

Yeah the thing is once you use a nexus, you are not going to want to use a gs3 when it comes to speed. The lag will be very apparent on s3.

But the s3 does have a nicer camera. Although if you are steady the n4 can take decent pics.

Excuse my noobiness, but why would someone go pure android over touchwiz. I'm looking at buying s4 but have been told by a friend to wait for google edition... What's the difference?

I used both a touchwiz running GS3, a pure android running nexus 4, and also loaded slimbean and AOKP (pure android based ROMs) on my GS3 as well.

The reason i like the pure android more is one of the basic ones: fluidity and speed. The N4 amazed me every day with its speed and smoothness. Handling a GS3 after that, i was amazed how i never perceived the laggy touchwiz as such.

I also saw a big speed difference between stock touchwiz and the pure android ROMs on the S3. It really felt like i was using a device with a speed lock on touchwiz, even though i like touchwiz features way more.

So a google edition S4 is what i am after too, but i am waiting to see if that ROM can be directly ported to carrier S4s without bugs, then i will just buy a touchwiz S4 and install the ROM and be good to go.

I was an iPhone 4 user on a prepaid sim like yourself. I switched to the Nexus 4 a few months ago. Don't regret it at all. I started a thread about the switch if you want to check it out. I think Android and iOS are basically the same thing. All major apps are there. iMessage was nice, but with the unlimited texting that I have, it hasn't been that much of a problem.

No new iPhone today (didn't really expect it)... ordered a 16GB white Nexus 4 this afternoon. I'll update later this week on how it's going. :)

Got my Nexus 4 yesterday... wow, what a difference performance-wise from the iPhone 4! Android Jelly Bean today is SO much more polished than the Froyo days, too. That's not saying there haven't been a few "moments" but it's been a mostly positive experience SO FAR.

What I LIKE:
- The screen size. Wasn't sure going in, but the bigger screen is well worth the tiny bit of "portability" you sacrifice. Yeah, it takes more space in your pocket, but it's worth it.
- The speed. Everything is INSTANT. The exact OPPOSITE of my iPhone 4, lol. I know I could've gotten the speed with a 5, yes, but that would've required a contract - NO THANKS.
- The fit and finish. I'm quite impressed with the finish-level of the Nexus 4; this is equal to (or at least VERY close to) iPhone territory.
- The customize-ability. :) With iOS, it is what it is. With Jelly Bean, I can change just about everything... but that can be a curse, too...

What I DON'T LIKE:
- The customize-ability. :( I like to tinker. That means I like to MOVE everything, try everything, switch EVERYTHING. I have not done anything for the past 24 hours but play with this phone!
- It ISN'T as user-friendly. Not a big deal to me, as I'll figure it out... but my 55 year old mother (who's used an iPhone and iPad for 3 years now) wanted to see it, unlocked it, then just stared at it - and then promptly handed it back. It's NOT an iPhone; it's not rocket surgery, either, though. :D
- Lack of accessories. I never used very many with my iPhone (nothing but a case and charger, really) but I liked the idea of them being available. Cases are few and far between with the Nexus 4. Luckily, mine came with the free bumper which is surprisingly good; I'll probably just keep it for a while.

What I absolutely HATE!:
- NOTIFICATIONS! I am SO used to the iPhone showing all my notifications of the lock screen, and having a central place to set how I want them to show. On the Nexus, I get SOUNDS and an LED light, but no screen. Sure, there are apps for that (I'm even messing around with one right now), but it's just not as easy.

My Thoughts Overall:
So far, I really like the change. Yeah there are a few niggles that make me want to pull my hair out, but I can manage. Will I probably go back to an iPhone in the future? Who knows, but I can DEFINITELY say one thing for sure - I would NOT go back to an iPhone unless there was a new one with a SCREEN THIS SIZE. :) Didn't think it'd be that big of a deal to me, but boy oh boy it IS!

For the home screen notifications, install dashclock. And if you want even more perceived speed, go into developer options and change the windows animation scale, transition animation scale and animator duration scale to .5x instead of 1x.

Oh my... Dashclock is EXACTLY what I was looking for - thanks! I'll save the transition setting until I perceive some slow down, but thank you so much!

I love dashclock. It's by far one of the most useful things I have installed on my phone.
