Who is your service provider? Isn't it AT&T? Why does your phone need to be unlocked in order to have service and make normal calls?
If his iPhone is unlocked, it is probably not AT&T. Mine is T-Mobile.

"Not this weekend"
Hey guys:
There have been a lot of anxious people out there that have asked whether or not upgrading to 2.0 firmware retains the unlock state of the iPhone. Sorry if this is a duplicate thread, I did do a search.
So - my story - I have an iPhone which was bought from the Apple Store in the Christiana Mall, Delaware back in September 2007. I unlocked it with AnySIM on 1.0.2, and have subsequently upgraded the firmware over the various revisions until getting to 1.1.4.
As the iPhone 2.0 made its way online (via a forum on here), I thought I'd give it a shot and see if it is possible to have the 2.0 firmware on my unlocked iPhone.
I can categorically stated that upgrading to 2.0 RELOCKS and jails the phone as most people expected. Meaning, no service and the ability to use any function except to make an emergency call only.
I have tried this evening twice to ensure that I can go back down successfully to 1.1.4 and can.
So - WAIT for the dev community to have a play with the firmware and wait a week or two. The firmware will be cracked soon!
I get home, open my iTunes, and it asked me for an update. I clicked ok.
Pays to be more careful doesn't it.![]()
Yea it does, but that doesn't help me. If someone was able to go back with no problem I should too
Pwnage will help. Don't know the steps for it to work on Windows so I can't help you there.
I tried that and it made my phone go crazy! It was stuck between restarting and the loading black and white scrolling text screen. It took me 30 mins to get it to turn off
I'll wait a month if I have to. It's free software to free my iPhone. It's worth the wait!
its supposed to do that, thats when the app is pwning ur iphone. then you have to create a custom 1.1.4 firmware on the ipsw builder function, and then restore your phone from itunes using the custom firmware. hope that helps.
Is it supposed to do it over and over again (Scroll, Apple 'start up window', Scroll, Apple, ect) for more than ten minutes?
well ten minutes is a bit over the expected time :s I really dont know about that. My suggestion would be to leave it like that until it stops and continue the regular procedure
I'll try it again. But it is supposed to switch back and fourth between those two like that though correct? I thought my phone just wasn't liking it and kept refreshing to get rid of it.
