How can I unlock my iPhone 6 from Boost Mobile?

I have a iphone 6 from Booost mobile.
I've been trying to have BM unlock it but they are very unhelpful.
Has anyone had success with getting their iphones unlocked with them?
If so, how was it done?

Or does anybody know a way to unlock it for free myself without going to through Boost?

If so, they should give you a DSU. Boost is Sprint, but Sprint changed it's unlock policy last year and if the phone is paid for Boost shouldn't be giving you so much hassle.

Historically, it's pretty much been impossible to third-party unlock a Sprint phone so I'm not sure what the status is now on that. Probably the same.

No, I am saying that because Boost is an MVNO of Sprint they follow Sprint's unlock policy.

Your device is paid for. Demand that they DSU unlock it. Boost's own unlock policy page says they will.

I've demanded that several times with different people.
Worked my way up from supervisor to manager with no luck.
most of them didn't even know about the CTIA policy.

Yes, but I heard they been playing around their customers and not unlocking them at all. Just passing you from left to right till you finally give up.

Well, I'm not even sure it's Sprint. Apparently CSR calls go directly overseas and it's some half-trained person with a web browser. They tend to tell the customer whatever it is (true or not) that gets them off the phone the quickest.

At least with Sprint they have the decency to never deviate from a prepared script. :rolleyes:

It's Boost that's jerking OP's chain, so I suggested calling Sprint themselves. Guess we'll find out how well that worked. :(

Tried calling sprint and they told me they cant unlock on their end bc my account is with Boost.
Just today, I've talked to 3 people from
Boost and four people from Sprint.
Issue unresolved.

Thanks for the suggestion but they acknowledge the fact they have to unlock it.
The problem I'm having now with them is that they say their system is down and not letting them Unlock....BS

I feel bad for OP. Would a threat to complain to the Better Business Bureau do anything? A threat to get a lawyer? How can you just toss customers around from rep to rep until they just quit? Bad business.

However, I returned it the next day because their network (Sprint) sucks in my area. I got a full refund for the phone minus round trip shipping costs and one month of prepaid service.

My little Boost Mobile experiment ended up costing me about $50.

I so glad I cut ties with them. Now hearing about your problems getting the phone unlocked even though it is paid in full and you have used their service for more than 12 months make me even more glad I don't have to deal with them.

I'm sorry you are having problems. I would file a complaint with your state regulator who is in charge of cellular utilities. I would also take them to arbitration to get them to unlock the phone.

To the OP, perhaps arbitration is the way to go. I hope it works out for you.

your best strategy would be:

1) google a little bit and find a form that you can fill out. then give up ( AT&T has a webform)

2) file a formal FCC complaint against your carrier. specify your account number, telephone number, device number and any names of people you have spoken too. boost will see the FCC complaint lodged against them and bend over and assist you, because they do not want the FCC to get involved.

anytime i filed a complaint against t-mobile, someone from executive / legal department got back to me and assisted me

my recent problem was they weren't giving me the 200 mb of free data i was promised. i had no idea what the heck was going on. i filed a FCC complaint. instant results. learned that free ipad plans are registered to the original IMEI.


if the fcc complaint does not get your the unlock, then you could sue in small claims or arbitration

have you actually tried powering down and inserting a different sim ? reddit says the process is supposed to be automatic. on iPhones, you have no idea your phone is even unlocked, unless you actually tried to insert a new sim or erased the iPhone and restored, i believe


the fcc is the place to go. recently they heavily fined trac phone / straight talk etc etc because of their unfair unlocking polices
