he got it running just fine, but I barely played it... his later versions were using Wineskin.

people still play guild wars? i re-sold that game after two weeks of having it since its launch. beta was good, the final product wasn't. :(

Ha... I realized pretty much the same thing. Beta was great! Unfortunately, I kept waiting to see if it would get better. After seven years of running a fansite, I got tired of waiting.

Fighting for control of cities in the Factions chapter was insane. But once at the top, there was nowhere else for the game to go but down.

How is this an advertisement to promote a blog? it looks like someone found a way to run Guild Wars "a better way" under OS X and is sharing it with the Mac community. This is a contribution to the community that I and many others value coming here for, the OP should be commended, not insulted by throwing a ToS in their face. Seems like you can't do anything without being accused for advertising, even Mac Rumors gets accused of that from time to time.

The original GW was pretty good. I quit once those expansions came.

I liked it better than WoW, which can basically only be played by hardcore nerds if you want to do everything. WoW is not a game for people who just want to do casual gaming. But in sales, WoW is better than GW ofcourse.

Maybe I'll pick up GW2 if it comes.

I think WoW was great for casual gaming... if you can keep your mind clear of the skinner box. I don't know much about the new expansions, but the original was a soloist's dream.

If I didn't feel like grouping, I had plenty of opportunities to go exploring or level-up. The PvP was awesome before they messed up the Battle Grounds. Guild Wars has nothing on Alterac Valley. Those battles were insane. Yet, they required zero planning. I only had to login, join the queue and play. Most players there had a general idea on what to do... KILL THE HORDE! A 45 minute wait was common for the alliance, but I could go hunting while waiting or I could check out the auction house. It was great.

So, in two hours, I could level up and enjoy PvP. The rewards for PvP players were pretty awesome too... about as good as stuff from raids, but without the headaches.

But then the Burning Crusade was introduced, trolls hit Stormwind and Blizzard Entertainment shut down the PvP rankings when I was almost a Commander. That's when I stopped playing. That's too bad, because I enjoyed the game.

I totally agree with this. Seriously Dagless, go find something better to do with your time than trying to impress us by your understanding of the fineprints of the Forums' TOS. This is a legitimate mac gaming contribution on a board that's, imho, underused.
