Depends on the specs of the "2018" (or later). If it's a disappointment like the 2014, the 2012s may not "plummet". But if it has a quad core option and has TB3 (to allow fast external connections and a great eGPU), yeah, the 2012s would no longer be the standard bearer for the product line.
