I believe you mean... quadcores!
No, I do mean dual dual-cores. Quadcore G5s simply don't exist right now and Apple may not build the dual dual-core PM.

I believe I miss-interpreted my information regarding ram. I read it as 16 slots, and then re-told 16 GB in the same bit of information. It is the DDR2 allowing for UP TO 16 GB. Sorry about that.

As far as powerbooks, they aren't speed bumped. Hard drive up to 120GB, ram type (ddr2) and new displays/graphics cards. And no, I have no idea what fate is bringing to the 12".

powerbook let down. I just cant see anyone in their right mind purchasing a 1.67 G4 powerbook in Late 2005. This is just silly. I bought ( 5) Acers for the office that were 1125$ each, and they have much better specs than any powerbook, that is sad. Now the PowerMac's sound very nice.

If there are no dual dual-core PMs and just bigger hard drives on the PBs, it will be a let down of biblical proportions.

I don't know if there will be no dual dual cores. I have only personally seen (with my eyes:)) the 2.3, and the specs for the 17" PB.

i find it hard to believe that the PowerBooks won't get at least slightly faster cpus (i.e.- 1.67GHz -> 1.8GHz). Or perhaps they will just get double the L2 Cache.

what are the new graphics/displays on the powerbooks?

I think new screens on the PBs is the best thing they could get, definitely more important than a little Mhz bump.

I agree, new HD screens on the PowerBook G4s would be great. That and a PCI-Express ATI Radeon X700 graphics chip w/128MB DDR.

Wow, they actually did end up referring to it as a quad-core computer. Man, Nermal, you were right, even if it was supposed to be a joke!

wow, good call. . . but 8 ram slots instead of 16 for a predicted total of 16GB. . . you sure youre not going to get fired? or did you sneak into the convention center early and get a look!

Ha, no. I won't be discussing my access. Period.

Though, I can say, it was sure fun ;)

It wasn't a joke. Quad essentially means four (I'm sure you knew that), and there are four cores. Even though they're on two different dies, there are still four of them :)
