Update iO with broken screen

Hello everybody, I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017) running on Catalina iO, I want to update to Monterrey but the laptop screen is broken. I'm using an external monitor at the moment until I could update my computer, will I be able to update iO using only a monitor as a reference? thanks very much!!!!
