How can I check if my iPad Pro M1 has blooming issues?
If you can’t see it with general use don’t look for it, as all the miniLED displays will have some blooming it’s the nature of the technology, it just depends whether it bothers you.

Asking this question tells me it doesn’t so I wouldn’t worry about it ?

Awesome, glad you got one that is perfect. These are expensive products and accepting one with any type of defect out of the box is unacceptable in my opinion. I also had an issue with my original one but had it replaced and all is well now.
I had (and still have) just a slight issue with my 2020 model. The Top Button is really loose. It works, but it moves around a bit when you touch it and wobbles back and forth. It makes it kinda hard to double click to confirm purchases.

You are right. But I did some research of topics that are here on this issues. I notice very small blooming when writing white text on black but it is so minimal that I think my model is right without issue and this small blooming is just function and not issue. It is not even close as other people shared their photos.

No as previous people have said photos of it make it look far worse than what it actually is ?

In a van down by the river
I don’t know if any of you have been following my journey of sorts on trying to get my M1 12.9” iPad Pro replaced through Best Buy. I had screen dimming problems with the first one and battery issues too it seems. I’ve been using my new one, a Space Gray model (which I love and prefer to the bland Silver IMO) and there’s no screen dimming and my battery is not draining when I have it plugged up through the pass through charging with the Magic Keyboard unlike the first one I had. That one was draining regardless of the fact that I had it plugged in. I am immensely happy right now that I have a perfect iPad Pro that has no defects whatsoever. I was literally praying I would get one that wasn’t messed up, but yeah. That’s the end of that story hopefully. I’ll keep my fingers crossed I don’t run into any problems, but so far so good! Thanks for reading you guys! :D
Glad you are happy with the new iPad replacement.

OT: You seem to use more avatars than most women have shoes. lol

How can I check if my iPad Pro M1 has blooming issues?

Just what is the standard means of finding defects that are not actually present - Keep looking and looking until you find something. Don't see anything yet? Keep looking. Eventually you'll be so obsessed with making sure your iPad is sooo perfect that you'll begin imagining things. Suggestions include:

1. - Use very, very bright lights to inspect the iPad everywhere. Brighter is better. And make sure to observe the iPad at all angles. Don't see anything yet? Repeat as necessary.

2. - Find your nearest mirror or leveling tool and begin checking for straightness. It must be absolutely perfect. Absolutely. Also remember, according to reports here, the iPad can spontaneously bend for no reason. It happens. Don't see any bend? Keep checking. Repeat.

3. - Now check for scratches. Again, utilize your 2000-lumen light to inspect it. A microscope is most helpful here. Extra points for using a scanning electron microscope. Don't see any scratches? You're not looking hard enough. Keep looking and looking until you find something. Repeat as necessary.

4. - Check for button wiggles, strange sounds when you shake the iPad, and dust under the camera lens. The electron microscope and inspection light are most useful here. If you don't see anything wrong, you're not doing it right. Check back here for reference on the proper methods of iPad inspection.

5. - Go back to 1 on this list. After running through this list 100 times, return the iPad. Now begin again, starting with 1.

Thanks. I’m happy with my iPad Pro now, so everything is pure gravy. The dimming issue is completely gone now that I enabled auto-brightness even with the brightness level maxed out.

As for the avatars… I know. Lol. I’m really indecisive and I’m always looking for something cooler to use. I’ll probably be sticking to this one for a while, but don’t hate me if I do change it! :p

My first one had a subtle color shift on half the screen which was just noticeable enough to question sanity if you were scanning down the middle of a page of text in landscape mode. Current one has a uniform and slightly warmer screen that I like, but it has a bluish/greenish gradient tint on light backgrounds along one edge that seems to come and go with the heat - the left side if viewed in portrait mode feels warmer, especially towards the corner with the most noticeable effect. Still debating the hassle of exchanging again though haha

I got the 2018 model when it first came out and had to swap twice because the first 2 had noticeable areas of backlight unevenness that made reading distracting ?

You think you are funny, right? So no, you are not. What a waste of time writing such long useless comment.

I thought the same TBH, just completely pointless post, at the end of the day Apple products carry an extremely high value and for that we expect high quality and top class QC… I hate when peeps defend apple in regards to slight imperfections, we pay higher than market average for products because we expect extremely high quality.

If Apple want to ship products without adequate QC they should lower their prices.

you are right but I did not like his answer because I just ask a normal question. And he immediately thinks that I am looking for imperfection.

Blooming issue is something what I was aware before I bought this iPad Pro so if I would really care, I would not buy it .. especially when I have 2020 as well

You look at it…. ?

in all seriousness, though, there will be some “halo” effects around bright characters, fonts, etc. on a dark background. There is probabky going to be some minimal blooming at least. Mine was very bearable and solid, until I noticed the dead pixel in the middle of the screen!

Unfortunately, in my experiences with Apple lately, the QC has been more subpar. Customer service has been solid and welcoming, but I have had to unfortunately use them more than I’ve wanted. This is all subjective, obviously, but their QC for me has been much better in the past.

Good grief, relax. I don’t think anything about you, I was making a joke about the the kinds of obsessive activities that happen here whenever a new model iPad or iPhone is released. Just relax a little.

But, to answer your question, yes, I do think I’m funny. :)

Yeah 100% agree, I remember back in the iPhone 4/5 days where you pretty much be guaranteed a perfect product out of the box, recently I have had many items damaged out of the box, fail within weeks plus other things… such a shame, but I suppose they have gone to focus on profits over quality products these days… not saying their products are bad in any sense but the QC has definitely gone down in recent years

Be cool. I do not care what others think of me. But I do not like morons.

And there is very tiny line between beeing funny and ridiculous ?

Wow! That's unfortunate... and I really don't want to buy Apple Care, but these new displays gives me no choice.

I’m in a tough situation as they said it will be 7-10 days to return and they may decide I may need to pay depending on how they investigate the damage but problem is my return period with where I bought it is in 7 days so I could be screwed over if they decide it needs replacing I will be out of pocket

Either that I return it for refund and buy the 11 inch instead where there is stock

Do not buy Apple care where you get refurbished product and risk more defects than blooming issue..

I honestly don't see how that's the case... that's a defect on Apple's part. Unless you dropped it to cause that defect... but if anything that falls under warranty repair. You shouldn't have to do a return on it.

In my case, I bought my iPP from Best Buy... within that 14 day window, if there's any issues... I'll bring it to them. After that 14 day window... if I have a hardware defect, it's going to Apple... whereas I shouldn't have to pay for a hardware defect.

When I first bought a MB.. Apple Care was around the one year warranty mark. I only bought it once.. never bought it again going forward (there was no need, IMO). Now, Apple Care has to be purchased within 60 days.. not before the one year mark and there is a high probability of chance something will go wrong after a year, it appears Apple Care is a must with these XDR displays.

I’m sure will be fine as Even when I reset it the issue was still there. Got to be a bad defect. Weird the first time it happened it disappeared but now it’s here for good
