Allow me to explain. Monochrome web browsers such as Lynx or Links are not very useful sadly.. I am not saying its a bad idea, just that I prefer to access websites with pictures, instead of like it was back in the early days of the internet. Lynx I remember using back in 1990s.. surely, TenFourFox would be the alternative to such monochrome browsers.

Could not disagree more. Links2 is incredibly useful, for instance by ignoring javascript it gets you around the nytimes.com and washingtonpost.com paywalls. It displays most inline images, albeit sometimes bizarrely large or bizarrely small. I easily can read this forum, npr.org and lite.cnn.com. Therefore, I am speedily informed of the days news without a barrage of ads and javascript I have to block. Google still works perfectly. Yes, tenfourfox is "better" at displaying modern webpages, of course it is, but we all know that comes at a price. I consider the porting of Links2 to Mac OS X is one of the better things to happen recently in PowerPC land.

If you want or need a truly speedy modern browser, buy a sub 100 dollar end of life Chromebook and put GalliumOS on it. Boom. Modern OS, modern web browser(s). Even my 2GB of RAM 2014 essentially e waste ACER Chromebook handles every modern task without complaint including effortless 720p youtube. There is no one in this forum who is not technically capable enough to do that simple task. Or buy a 50 dollar or less Macbook (people literally give these away sometimes especially if they are ugly) and put Snow Leopard or Lion then Interweb on it. I have yet to find anything I can't do with Interweb, in fact I find it works better than Firefox Legacy or Chromium Legacy on Lion. Tenfivetube is also an absolute godsend, can play youtube while only using 25% CPU. In fact I just watched Leeds United v Burnley highlights in 720p using 50% CPU and my Macbook barely got warm.

Meanwhile, over at the revived powerpcliberation.blogspot.com Dronecatcher has a recent series of utterly inspiring posts of what you can actually do with a PowerPC mac if you are somewhat technically competent, and willing put in the work. Until we have a low priced POWER machine, this is literally the best we will do.

Every post and comment you make on this forum is only there to discourage the person who tried to make this community a better place. You didn't try out this browser, but you did state how it's completely useless??

A new PowerPC and Intel build of Links 2 will be out soon!
Why the need for this is Interweb can do it better ? Now, for those running 10.0-10.4.11 ? Maybe it’s good idea.. but on G4’s and G5’s seems interweb is the better one - congrats to WickNix.

I haven't seen one of those in awhile! How is Leopard with 256MB of ram?
Well, it's obviously not fast, but I put an SSD in and it's surprisingly usable. I frankly don't have any purpose for owning it other than to mess around, so the machine doesn't do any heavy lifting.

Yeah that makes sense, I would honestly do the same thing if I had one of those!
I remember when those came out and people started running full Tiger on them. I was in middle school and I wanted one because I couldn't get a new intel mac obviously, and at the time they made decent cheap Mac Mini's.

And a G5 quad has those issues ? It’s a shame JavaScript never worked well on PPC. Maybe it should never have been created at all.
Links2 isn't aimed at quad G5s though it would run.. It's aimed at things like G3s or slower macs with limited ram.
Links2 is pretty useful to browse around on things like my Beige Macs and PBG3's.

Though I still wish it would run on 10.2.8:cool:

I did try to do this but porting it didn't work out, 10.2.8 isn't really unix-like to modern software. For viewing forums/image boards (I'm pretty old school with internet content still TBH), this really is the best way to go even on my iBook G4. As TFF becomes less supported, this will continue to be updated with newer certificates and TLS as well.

Don't worry about TLS. So long as we have Interweb we are fine, though TLS 1.4 won't be coming out until 2035. By that time the world will be without human existence, so who will worry about it.

I have ported the newest version of the Links2 web browser to Mac OS X 10.3.9-10.6.8. This will work on any PPC Mac, or an Intel Mac with Rosetta.

Links2 is wicked quick and supports TLS 1.3. It uses the latest Mozilla CA certificates, and OpenSSL among other things. Wikipedia and many sites work flawlessly (but there is no javascript support).

I have trouble to using the graphics mode using Panther 10.3.9 (X11 installed)
when I select the graphics mode it open the x11 xterm and nothing happens after
