iPhone Updating IMEI blocked iPhone 4s in another country

i recently bought an iphone 4s (Version 5.1.1 Model MD257X) in Bangladesh. I later found out that this phone is blocked by Vodafone Australia. The phone is working fine with all the network providers over here. I'm just wondering once iOS 6 comes out, would I be able to update it?? I'm using the phone in Bangladesh.

Please lemme know!!
 
Could you please explain how this IMEI blocking works?? So my phone won't get locked or blocked if I try to install the new iOS?? I mean this IMEI blocking is some kind of local blocking.

Sorry to bother...this is my first iphone and I'm just curious:)
 
If that phone is blacklisted in Australia then it wont accept any australian carriers sims.
It has nothing to do with the firmware, you can update and restore at any time.
As long as you're not using a sim from the country or countries its blacklisted on then you're fine.
Just those networks wont allow that phone to connect and work over there any more.

Hey I just found out that the phone was locked with the carrier and then it was unlocked before it got blacklisted. So would I still be able to update to next iOS without any problem or would it get locked(or someother problem) when I will try to update to iOS 6??

Please lemme know.

It's a tough one.
Are you sure it was officially unlocked before it was reported lost/stolen?

Updating the software has nothing to do with the carrier. Activating it is a whole other issue. I would say wait and see. Anyway the phones stolen so no one should really be helping you.

You can just restore in iTunes and see if it will activate. I wouldn't bother doing so unless you can deal with a locked phone. What service did you use and how much did it cost?
 
Oh, I hadn't realized the guy he bought it from got it unlocked. Yea, avoid the updates if possible because carriers can block IMEI unlocks.

I have had the fantastic misfortune of purchasing a Iphone 4S 64 Gb, and then finding out a day later it is Blocked for use in Australia. I have rang the network (Optus) and they don't wanna know anything about it...

I have read a few different forums, is my only option to sell or swap it with someone overseas... This cost me $600AUD and I really don't wanna take a massive loss on it.

I bought it from the online classifieds website Gumtree, i made the arrangements via email and now the guy I bought from isn't responding..

Help?

Is it unlocked? If so, I can exchange it with you, I have a 16Gb Iphone 4.
 
Problem with unlocking iphone 4s

Im sorry to interrupt business [but i'm new in this forum and i dont know how to post a new one,]. I have a problem with unlocking an iphone 4s since i bought it few months ago. I now live in mexico and i tried to install ultrasn0w but it wont help also SAMpref but worthless, the thing is that ultrasn0w1.27 wont install completely it show an error and everytime it opens cydia it will say its halfway intall, cydia solution is to unistall well i just want to unlock the iphone but i dont find the way please help.:confused:

Go to the top of the iphone hacks forum and press the button "New Thread" in the top left corner. You should start your own thread, more so because you'll get more help, rather than posting in someone else's.

you cant unlock an iphone 4s with ultrasnow. ultrasnow is history it doesnt support new iPhones and their basebands.
