What is the correct way to go about it? The Evad3rs team tweeted "For people with 4S wanting to update to 6.1.1: make a backup and properly restore your device in iTunes. Do NOT make an OTA update."

I understand this part, but do I just do a regular restore & update through iTunes? Will this unjailbreak my device and get it ready for the rejailbreak using Evasi0n 1.3? Or will I have to use DFU mode since I'm already jailbroken on 6.1?

I'm not sure if using DFU mode is only for people wanting to use their SHSH blobs to restore to a specific iOS version?

Thanks! I just don't want to mess my phone up but I do want to restore, update and rejailbreak for the sake of cleanliness. :)

DFU-restore is the safest way, it is a complete wipe of the system portion of the idevice.

evasi0n 1.3 for 4S 6.1.1 update is already out

are you upgrading your 4s to 6.1.1?

I'm tempted as I want to be at the highest level ios I can when apple drops the bomb and perhaps temporarily stop the jailbreaking. My 4s is jailbroken and running fine, not sure if I have the 3G issue.

Have you updated yet?

i may do this this weekend, but...everything is working SO well, & not sure i want to spend the time (have ALREADY spent too much time with the JB)...

anyone else?

I updated.

Didn't have the 3G issue on my 4s, but may have seen the battery life issue. Couldn't verify it. But so far, all looks well for me on 6.1.1. I only have OpenSSL, OpenSSL, and MyWi added.

BL.

I am not sure if im gonna update, I usually like to be at the highest available JB version but I don't really want to redownload the things I have. Anyone noticed any reason to update who has?

I updated and all is swell. Of course, I had saved the .deb files for all the tweaks I use, so reinstalling them was a breeze.

I strongly recommend that anytime you upgrade or jailbreak, you should install DebianSaverLaunchDaemon as your very first tweak. That way you will have an easy way to backup the installers for every tweak you use.

In fact, you should install DSLD a second time so it saves its own .deb file.

Then in the future anytime you update and jailbreak, you can pick up right where you left off. No matter if Cydia and all the repos are slammed, you have all the .debs you need.

Will that cause any conflicts when updating tweaks via Cydia?

weather app crashing after updating to 6.1.1

I updated my 4s to 6.1.1 and jail role with new evasion 1.3 now the weather app crashes every time I open it and the plane icon for the airplane mode toggle in sbsettings doesn't show.
Any one have any ideas on how I can fix this?

Thanks in advance.

I just DFU restored and am updating now, ill see if I have any issues once im all jailbroken.

Interesting.. I'm on 6.1.1, don't have SBSettings installed, and the weather app works for me fine. Could you try it without SBSettings and see what you get?

Weather app and Plane icon are working correctly for me. They had previously not worked when I first jailbroke 6.1 with evasi0n 1.0, but Cydia updatesfixed that and it's right in 6.1.1 with evasi0n 1.3.

What Repo is it on?
One of the naughty ones. I removed that repo after installing DSLD. Tomorrow I can set up a download link for just the DSLD package if you want.

Will that cause any conflicts when updating tweaks via Cydia?
It works fine. Cydia sees the installed tweaks and you can update them like any other.

Indeed, DSLD will save the .deb from the update as well, meaning you'll have a backup of each version you've installed (you can always delete the .debs you don't want anymore.)

The only question is whether the tweaks will still workon the future iOS version, but that issue exists regardless.

I'd appreciate the link for that app specifically thanks.

I just did a restore+upgrade. It upgraded it to 6.1.1 official.

Then I got the 6.1.1 Blobs for Tiny Umbrella (that was updated for 4S 6.1.1 too)- this is optional. Don't need this for jailbreaking. Just do it in case Apple releases 6.1.2 and they close the jailbreak path.

Then, I ran the new evasion jailbreak program.

No problems at all!

If I 'restore', do the tweaks/cydia settings etc get transferred over? (i.e. I just need to jailbreak to be able to activate them) or do I essentially start from scratch with the JB?

plugged my 4S into my computer
opened up itunes
right-clicked Back up iphone
restored
updated
jailbreak
done.

i updated yesterday - no issues at all and everything works well.

perhaps too early to tell but my signal strength has been constantly high since the update - when before it would fluctuate constantly.

DSLD .deb attached (had to .zip it to upload to forum, so extract it after you download.)

DFU-restore is the safest way, it is a complete wipe of the system portion of the idevice.

Once the restore starts there is absolutely no difference between a DFU mode restore, Recovery Mode Restore, and a regular restore. All of them completely wipe the entire flash memory. There is no reason to prefer one over another. DFU is just a way of getting the restore started when the system won't boot.
