haven't tried it, but maybe airdrop will work?
thanks, ended up buying the sg for 512gb wifi, using wifi transfer on infuse, left it overnight and it transferred about 250gb, still have 200gb left!
one of the main reasons for buying was to see if there was any improvement in viewing conditions outdoors, i use it primarily to watch movies on my commute into work.
will see how it goes, if I'm happy with it, will keep otherwise return it

ps can i watch downloaded 4k content on this iPad screen? or is it limited by software?

thanks

I hope you'll be happy with it! I did the same jump from Air 1 to the Pro 10.5 but I went with 64GB. It's a completely different beast. The Air 1 really wasn't particularly good at anything anymore and I much rather used my MacBook Pro to get things done. This new iPad is a completely different story. I don't feel like I need to use my MacBook at all thanks to the awesome RAM management and when iOS 11 comes out, I'll probably just have the mac as a backup.

iPads are becoming really capable machines.

You can watch 4k content just fine, the resolution on the ipad is not 4k, but on a screen 10 inches in size it is high enough that you won't see the difference.

I'd say you'd struggle to see the difference from 1080p content on a 10" screen, but if you can notice higher than 1080p on 10" screen, the 4k content may look better for you.

thanks I realised its probably overkill but I have a bit of OCD for having/wanting the best quality movie/tv show file to download to watch on a 10.5 inch screen!

In the effort to not start a redundant thread, I just did this same upgrade from a 2013 iPad Air 1 16GB to the 2017 iPad Pro 10.5" 256GB. Wow, the 120hz screen refresh rate is ridiculously smooth, and display is gorgeous. Having 256GB at the mid price point is good value. I spent the extra for the cellular LTE model to reuse my free T-Mobile 200mb/month for life data sim. GPS chipset is great for tracking the iPad when there's no WIFI.

Ugh. I'm so close to pulling the trigger. My Air 1 has been good to me but it's showing it's age now. Hmmmm.

:)

Me too. My iPad mini 2 is barely hanging in there. Slow. The home button is busted. I had to set up a virtual home button which is a pain. I am pretty much set on getting the 10.5" iPad Pro since I want to draw with the Apple Pencil. I'm just gonna wait a few more weeks to see if Apple announces an iPad mini Pro at the iPhone/iOS 11 event next month. It's a long shot, but the mini 4 was announced at the same event 2 yrs ago, so ya never know.

I came from the Air 2 and it's a great improvement for me. I'll grab my Air 2 to do some updates, games with a different ID, and the differences are easily seen.

I have Air 2 and if-ing and am-ing about upgrading. Wouldn't be so bad if the prices haven't be jacked up so much, that's without factoring in keyboard/pencil. From an Air 1 I would upgrade for sure. Going from that non-laminated screen to the 10.5" will be a huge jump.

similar situation here, my air 2 works fine and has plenty of storage... I'd take the 2017 9.7 if it had laminated screen and the extra speakers. I don't need pencil support for my usage but would like the 4 speakers.

I leaped from an iPad Air 2 to the new 10.5 Pro. What a difference it makes! With iOS 11 the iPad has become my favourite device.

I think the iPad Pro 10.5 is definitely a fantastic tablet and the best iPad available today especially the very very ridiculously powerful A10X chip and that 120Hz ProMotion technology in the screen/display and more and judging by the reviews and users it is is a beast of a tablet and IOS 11 will definitely make the iPad Pro 10.5 even better.

But since I have a iPad Air 2 which I owned for nearly 2 years now and still in very good condition and runs very well and the battery life is still fantastic and the things that I use it for are really pretty casual like web browsing, video watching and playing games, and set it and the iPad Air 2 is still very powerful and fast enough and still great for those type of things that I use my iPad Air 2 for. :D

I would love to upgrade to the new iPad Pro 10.5 but at the moment and I am definitely very happy with using my iPad Air 2 for another year or 2 before upgrading to a way newer and much more better iPad Pro 10.5 model in the future. :)

closest thing is currys and they're an awful company.

Currys/PC World are a awful company??!! Why do you think that they are a awful company in your experience?? o_O

I am really really curious to know because for me since I live in England, With my experience with Currys/PC World has definitely been awesome since I buy all my devices like tablets/iPads, 2-1's hybrids, more from them they do awesome deals and at Currys/PC World and with there fantastic Knowhow service they always have been superb and awesome at getting my devices all checked up and repairing them or get it replaced with a replacement if there is a problem with one of my devices like my iPad Air 2(I had to take my iPad Air 2 quite a few times to get checked up and get it repaired or replaced at Currys/PC World). :)

So in my experience I think Currys/PC Work are definitely a awesome company(one of the best even) in my opinion!!! :D

I went from a 16gb first gen Air to a 256gb 10.5 Pro. The difference is huge. It's just as portable, but the bumped up display size is what I've been wanting since I got the Air. 256gb is plenty if you ask me, but it just depends on your needs.
