Im in a similar boat. I can get the 2020 12.9 128gb with a pencil for $1500 with the education pricing.

Or....I can get a 2018 12.9 256GB with a pencil and folio case for $1100. (Local electronic store by my house has one still sealed for sale)

(Canadian dollars btw)

Cant decide whether the extra $400 is worth it.

Maybe I misunderstood you but they way I see it, it is far more than 400 $ difference. For 1100 you get more storage and folio case. For 1500 you get less storage and no folio. I would do comparison by putting the same devices on both sides. Meaning how much will you pay for folio and 256 GB for 2020 iPad Pro. That is if you care about those things of course.

The way I see it the only improvement that 2020 iPad Pro brings (at least for me) is more RAM. The thing is so far I have not seen how this translates to real usage. Meaning how much it would improve user experience with the RAM increase. I am not talking about benchmarks I am talking about real examples.

hey Khafriaal, I’m actually in the same boat too. However Im thinking I might as well spend bit more and just get the 2020 but not sure..

I’m also in Canada, wondering where did you see this sale for the 2018?

I would recommend 2020 model primarily due to the increase in RAM - 6GB vs. 4GB - it's a large difference that will have a meaningful impact in everyday usage. Aside from that, you are getting WIFI 6 (future-proof), LIDAR (some cool applications in the works), and you'll be less inclined to upgrade as early because 2020 sounds a lot more recent than 2018 ( ;) ).
